FINAL ANOUNCEMENTS
The exhibition is tonight and we are announcing our final three artists, First of all there is a neon installation by Brass Art which we are super excited about. Then we have three films from Jordan Baseman who is a video artist and has kindly let us show them at our exhibition. Finally we have Tereza Stehlikova who has also given us a film to show!
Can't wait to see you all tonight!!!
MATT MULLINS
We are very lucky to have Matt Mullins also joining us at The Star and Garter, showing his video 'Shape Test' The Shape Test series came from a desire to explore ideas traditionally associated with painting. He was very interested in colour, composition, the sensation of space within a painting & the relationship between the physical painting and architecture of the exhibition space. By exploring the medium of film he realised he could use the world around him as a material & developed an interest in light, movement & the manipulation of time. Don't miss out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaqPVib2Xc4
We are delighted to have Adam Wallace playing our event evening..
'In Quarantine We Trust has dug out a style of music that can only be nurtured in the clubs and bars of Manchester. Honest, sharp and metaphoric words cut through delicate strums of his acoustic guitar as he flirts between topics of Religion, politics and Human nature.'

The Pennine moors have been a great influence on my life from early memories, many years climbing on its rough gritstone edges and long distance running across the vast landscape. Although I have since had a lifetime of being in the worlds bigger hills and across more distant horizons these early images still burn strong and fuel my desire to represent this vast landscape, its colours and textures into my art practice.
Creating work for the Platform 14 Exhibition has posed a number of new challenges as I try to represent this deprived townscape. As you look around you can sense the redundancy of these once grand buildings -you can almost smell the rot and decay.

My work covers a large variation of ideas and concepts along with different mediums im intrested in photography, painting and drawing and enjoy working with texture. These images are examples from a final major project in foundation tying together the idea of maps along with veins and arteries within the body and using different things to create an image, such as an image of someone drinking tea painted with tea.

My concept looks into the limitations of art. I like investigating interactive art, and playing with the idea of who owns the art, and what the 'art' actually is. Environment is key to my practice, in the way that i react and others react to an environment, and how if you move a piece or work this will affect the concept.

My work is all about place, journeys and memories of a certain town in Morocco.

My work is focused on unwanted spaces and buildings, my ideas have been to create a space within a space using objects and imagery to transform the unwanted into something more exciting and new. I work within a range of media such as monoprint, photocopying, cutting and pasting, acetate and projectors.
