you change people. your name makes others smile. your work moves people. someone might compliment you somewhere, right now. someone’s heart will beat faster just thinking about you. your friends remember your experiences fondly. someone might see a book in the store and think of you, too. you inspire others to keep going, or you will someday. your presence matters and changes the world every day.
i’m not forcing shit, value me or miss me.

Every day, there’s a new comment:
- ”He basically taught you everything you know about that class.”
- “What she means is...”
- “You should try eating _____ to be healthier.”
- “Women need to plan better.”
- “It’s her fault.”
- “When are you going to have kids?”
- “You could try a less demanding job. Why do you have to be a doctor?”
- “But don’t you always want your boyfriend around?”
- “Girls are expensive.”
- “Girls are too emotional.”
- “I bet she’s on her period.”
- “I bet he thought of that for you.”
- “You’re a girl, so you get it easy when dating.”
- “Well, I’m sure you liked the attention.”
And the list goes on.
It’s ridiculous that people think a woman cannot be an intelligent, self-sufficient woman, who takes care of her mind, body, and soul. It’s crazy that people think a woman cannot have both a strong career and a loving family if she chooses to. It’s mind-boggling that people assume women cannot be financially independent to pay for their own meals and buy themselves things they want and need, and that they don’t necessarily need a man to do it for them. It’s absolutely disgusting that people are okay with men belittling women by dismissing a woman’s anger as frivolous. It’s revolting that men think we would in any sliver of imagination enjoy being sexually assaulted.
We need to start changing the way we view women, and start seeing them as equals. This means the same pay for the same job with a man and woman of equal intellect, training, and expertise. This means listening to a woman fully, without interruption, so that she can voice her opinion. This means giving credibility to a woman’s voice. This means giving women the credit and acknowledgement they deserve. This means realizing that women are not to be seen as lesser, but as equals.
It is what it is. Accept it and move on.
Introverts aren’t really lonely. We just really enjoy our own company.
