Addison balked at the sudden harsh words from Duke haven’t had expected it for her. Sure she knew that she could be like this at times. That she’d lash out sharply, but tonight had seemed to be going so well and she’d seemed happy enough. But her glistening eyes and fierce anger told another story. “I—” Addison cut off following after her feeling frustrated suddenly too and maybe it was the alcohol that was stopping her from meekly returning to the apparent mistake of a sleep over, but she stood her ground. “Then why didn’t you just say that?” The blonde demanded feeling for once like she was in the right. Duke was never upfront with her, she never said what she truly meant or felt and for once in her life she felt like talking about how it bothered her rather than pushing it down. “Why were you so vague? It sounded just like when you throw a sleepover. You were flirting around like five seconds before you asked me.” Was she ashamed of the idea of people even knowing there was going to be an overnight with just the two of them? It was Westerburg, it wasn’t as if people were going to jump straight to the idea that they really, really, cared about each other in an unfriendly sort of way.

without all the bullshit.... that would be nice, it’s really what she wanted - even if it was just for a night. getting the house to herself for the night had been no easy feat, the heathers were meant to hit a college kegger that thursday night, nothing major - just a bit of fun but last minute she backed out making some lame excuse about having to see her grandmother over in the next town... yet here she was partying with the girls, acting like nothing was wrong. but it was. that night was just meant to be them; it was time for them to finally act like a couple in peace away from prying eyes and enjoy it without worry. they could have cuddled, watched a movie and talked about them.... however, along the way a miscommunication with the pair had meant that red and yellow got invited as well, in the morning heather would have to answer to the mythic bitch herself for lying to her, that wasn’t a conversation she was looking forward too. she tried to make an effort but this night was too much; heathers tongue was all too sharp, she wasn’t coping she wanted to bee alone to just get herself together and then rejoin them later, heather expected addison to leave her be or at least give her a hug, something. yet there was no comforting arms around her, the opposite in fact the junior had clapped back, standing tall.
“ excuse me? ” disbelief filled her voice as she frowned at the cheerleader, the back of her freehand brushing the tears from her eyes. this wasn’t what she expected and she wasn’t going to let little miss cheer blame her for trying. slow steps moved towards her, head cocking to one side. “ are - are you seriously saying it’s my fault for how tonight turned out? when you’re the one that couldn’t take a hint. ” a gentle touch and quick flirt was what she had given with the invite, a hush-hush one in a free moment when the heathers were out of earshot, it was all she could manage at the time. for some that would have been enough, if it was one of the boys she wouldn’t have needed to say anymore, she thought maybe addison might have clocked onto the fact they were more than friends and went with it... but no. “ really? how obvious do i need to be with you, do i have to spell it out next time. in fact, why don’t you tell me what i should have done since you’re deciding to be so vocal tonight. go on. tell me how you’d have gone about it. ”
