Without the books one might think of Glinda will be okay eventually, maybe… But nope not at all, book Glinda has a lavender marriage in which everyone knows that they both “largely go their own ways” and when her husband dies she doesn’t ever take a lover because she’s hopelessly in love with Elphaba even when she’s old and Elphaba has been dead for decades, she still holds out for her.

Musical/movie Glinda is doomed to be alone for the rest of her life because; who can replace Elphaba? No one.
