I do this thing when I cry really hard… I bring my hands up to my face and I stroke the way you would a crying child. I only just realized that I do this a moment ago, mid tears and realized how comforting it is for me. It’s me whispering to my broken self that “it’s ok. Things will be ok” and while at the time it’s hard to believe that things will be, it’s nice to have a fragmented me caress me the way I need to.

Dear me,

You’ll be ok.  I won’t tell you not to cry. Please cry. Get it all out. So that you never have to return to it again.
