What do ANP and EP stand for and why do some systems not like them?
Pluralpedia pages below
do you know any good alternative to anp by any chance?? thank u :]
Ah, i sadly don’t.
I’ve been working on attempting to figure out how to kinda coin terms similar to ANP, EP, and NPC because i personally do not like them and a lot of other systems i am surrounded by have stated the same opinion.
I’ll make a post with the terms if I can come up with anything, of course!

Hey, by the way, persecutors only come from traumagenic (AKA dissociative/DIDOSDD) systems.
Persecutors are a system member that is created specifically to get "ahead" of abuse and/or other forms of trauma by punishing the body and/or the rest of the system, under the logic that if they abuse themselves/the system first, it will keep them safe(r) from the abuse/trauma happening to them.
They aren't just "mean" or "rude" alters or alters that are closed off, they are alters specifically to get ahead of and reenact abuse and trauma in a misguided attempt at protecting the system and literally any alter in your system can be or become a persecutor, no matter how well of a caretaker they are, no matter how good of a protector they are, how good of a gatekeeper they are, even if they're an introject of a character or person who generally seems very nice, they can still all be persecutors by harming the body or other members of the system to reenact or get ahead of abuse and trauma.
This specific kind of alter only happens in DID/OSDD systems because they are formed from abuse and trauma and the term itself was created for traumagenic systems. They cannot happen in a system that was not formed by trauma, and if they're experiencing something similar, then it's likely different and should probably use a different term, since persecutor is term stemming from traumagenic systems, and means something very different from just a mean headmate.
Uh endogenic systems absolutely can have trauma that causes them to split off a persecutor, protector, trauma holder, or any other trauma-based role.
Endogenic does not mean "never had trauma" or "can't have systemmates created by trauma". It only means that the original cause of your plurality is something other than trauma.
1) Persecutor is a medical term for DID/OSDD systems. It originated in DID/OSDD communities and is, to my knowledge, a medical term to refer to an alter that re-enacts abuse and trauma.
2) If we're talking about all endogenic systems and the basic forms in which they function and how they function differently from DID/OSDD, I don't see how an endogenic system would form new headmates without them being intentionally created.
In a DID/OSDD system, alters are created through trauma and extreme levels of dissociation separating memories and emotions off from each other to protect the child. Following the theory of structural dissociation, the child's mind wasn't exactly shattered, but more like it was never allowed to integrate. Imagine a puzzle but instead of putting the pieces together to form a coherent picture, the pieces were never put together and instead grew into their own pictures around each other, staying separate.
In endogenic systems, the consciousness isn't broken in the same way as DID/OSDD, because that can only happen through trauma according to the current research, so it doesn't necessarily make sense for new splits to happen unless you either 1) aren't endogenic, 2) create new headmates intentionally, (I have a hard time believing headmates can be created accidentally as far as paro/willogenic headmates go), or 3) it's related to spiritual plurality, and even then, none of these things are "splits"--splits are a DID/OSDD only thing where new alters are created from stress, (not accounting for BPD splitting). Not only do endogenic systems not have alters in the sense that DID/OSDD has alters, you aren't splitting parts of your consciousness off to create them, which is what happens in DID/OSDD.
Not to mention that new splits happen in reaction to stress to protect the system. If your system didn't come from trauma, then it doesn't have the subconscious trauma response of splitting to cope with that stress, because endogenic systems are nondissociative and non DID/OSDD. They don't split to cope with trauma or stress inherently because their brains didn't learn to split with trauma and stress in the first place.
Because of this, not only do endogenic systems not have amnesia or dissociation around switches and headmate co-consciousness, the creation of new headmates is very likely impossible unless they're created intentionally or it's related to spirituality because your brain inherently does not have the mechanism it needs to split from trauma due to your consciousness already having integrated due to not experiencing trauma between ages 6 and 9.
So no, endogenic systems do not "split" because they don't have the mechanism to, because their brains didn't need to keep itself separated to protect itself. Endogenics do not have persecutors in the same way that DID/OSDD systems do.
Endogenics especially do not have trauma holders because trauma holders are alters with very specific functions involving /amnesia/. Trauma holders are alters created to hold memories or emotions relating to trauma that the system experienced so the rest of the system doesn't have to, i.e. they're creating amnesia between traumatic events so most or the entire rest of the system doesn't have to remember that trauma. Endogenics cannot have system related dissociation or amnesia due to the fact that those are directly related to trauma. If you're an endogenic system with a trauma holder that keeps memories or emotions from you or the rest of your system, you're not endogenic, you have trauma and believing you're endogenic doesn't make it real and it doesn't make that trauma go away.
It is misinformation on what DID/OSDD, persecutors and trauma holders are to say that endogenic systems can experience these things without being traumagenic in some manner. Unless you have DID/OSDD, which makes your system traumagenic inherently and vis versa, then you cannot have amnesia or dissociation relating to your system.
Only DID/OSDD systems can have persecutors, trauma holders and other trauma related alters in their system. If you have these things, you're not endogenic. Period.
Endogenic systems can have trauma, it just wasnt what caused them to exist.
They can still have headmates who help them cope with that trauma or hold that trauma, it just wasnt what caused them to exist
Also endogenic systems can “naturally” form headmates, not all headmates in endogenic systems are created, and a lot of endogenic systems do not control how their headmates exists or what roles they have.
Endogenic systems have every right to have trauma related headmates, as they can have trauma.
Endogenic systems can also experience amnesia and have barriers between members.
Whilst DID/OSDD is a different experience, that doesn’t mean other system types aren’t allowed to experience some of the same things.
Ergodian/Ergodician
Ergodian are headmates who are randomly generated. This could be a headmate chosen from a random source, or a headmate who was formed without any form of connections to their appearance and personality.
Could also be a headmate whose origin is random/randomly generated.
Entogenic and Ectogenic
Entogenic is an umbrella term for a system or member formed from something internal.
Ectogenic is an umbrella term for a system or member formed from something external.
Infoject and Infogenic
Infoject refers to a system member whose source is based around specific info. Could also be an introject of an infodump.
Less of the concept of the info, but the actual info itself.
Infogenic refers to a system or member formed after obtaining certain/specific information.
Can be combined with other terms. For example, an infotraumagenic system is one in which formed after receiving traumatic information.
Midfortive
Midfortive refers to a type of introject that is sort of disconnected from their source or parts of their source, but not completely.
They can still connect with certain parts and turn away from others, feeling sort of in the middle and neutral about the source as a whole.
Dixian
Dixian are previously nonverbal headmates who have gained the ability to talk in some way, whether they become verbal-flux, semi-verbal, or their verbality is a one time thing.
Polyheureux and Polytriste
Polyheureux refers to any large system, usually but not limited to those of 100+, who are large due to happiness or positive feelings.
Polytriste refers to any large system, usually but not limited to those of 100+, who are large due to sadness or negative feelings.
