Happy 25th anniversary, Thief 2: The Metal Age
An animation I made for the 20th anniversary of Thief: Deadly Shadows. I used the same techniques in Adobe After Effects as Daniel Thron, the cutscene artist of the game.
Audio by Eric Brosius
I was inspired by Metal: Hellsinger to model this
SPOILERS for Star Wars: Clone Wars season 7.
I decided to 3d model my first computer. A 486DX2 from 1994.
I decided to remake my hastily modeled Umbrella Magnum that I made a couple of years ago. With access to Substance Painter a lot more detail could be added more easily. Modeled with Foundry Modo 902 and textured with Substance Painter.
P.S The magazine is still stupid, since it’s modeled after the original proportions in the game, and thus has no space for accommondating a spring capable of supporting 8 rounds.
I wanted to make the worst, most broken, least functional videogame gun in existence. See how many flaws you can find?
The Metal Age
I made this animation in celebration of Thief 2′s 20th anniversary. The greatest videogame ever made. Here’s a 1080p version https://youtu.be/Bc8Ui6w91fQ
TIE Fighter stuff for Star Wars day. RIP Peter Mayhew.
“Trust me, I’m an engineer!” - Tali Zorah vas Detroit as she's standing in a conscpicuously empty engine bay after having been asked to only install a new distributor cap.
Thief: The Dark Project was released 20 years ago today. November 30th 1998. -In one of those big cardboard PC game boxes of course, which I still have to this day. Considering how many months of entertainment the little 10 year old me was able to extract out of the free demo alone, it's no wonder the full version could do that for twenty years. Happy birthday master thief Garrett.
The prime weapon for alien infestation removal. Flamethrower spits napalm out of two barrels, pump-action shotgun is loaded with Dragon’s Breath shells and a grenade launcher gets cruel and unusual with its 40mm white phosphorus warheads. And if the outside doesn’t burn properly, the sharp barrel can be used as a big ol’ syringe to properly internalize the combustibles.
Slowly learning Substance Painter and it inspired me to finish this old model. I tried to combine the 1950′s inspired retro-futuristic style of Fallout and an actual military vehicle.
First time trying out Substance Painter. How did I do?
