"Stanley lived a completely underwhelming life, and he was fine with this.
One day he gets offered a job with a year long contract to work alongside a voice actor to create a book and podcast adaptation of a kids cartoon about a Bucket and Wacky Line, Stanley accepts this at the promise of more pay.
Unfortunately Stanley has to work with the most obnoxious Narrator ever."

genuinely the best inspiration for a tsp fic is literally just playing the game. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT!!!
ok but seriously though. Sometimes you get so boxed up in fandom and that world that you need to refresh with canon. it always feels like a breath of fresh air! When I feel stumped I literally just pull out a scene from the game and BOOM im back on track!
I will catch myself making him softer and not as sassy. which is not what i want at all. I forget hes an ass and is very fussy. I need to represent this well!
it is always narratively correct to make your characters sleep together before they sort through the hundreds of lies and misdirections between them. make things worse make things worse make things worse #i love betrayal #i love lying #i love people feeling bad about themselves
woah leaving choices up to the fandom how dangerous
so basically im writing a fic and i hate them so im making stanley and the narrator argue (literally every chapter) but this time i want the narrator to take it too far, yk say some things that he cant take back. what i want to know is what do you think he would say to cross that line? it is a human au and they haven't known each other that long but they have canon (or as close to canon as i can) personalities, yeah go nuts i suck at angst and i want something truly atrocious and ill let this epic fandoms sick minds help me
Ok but why don't we see more Narrator Divorce fics? I don't know about you but beyond the "he canonically represents the platonic idea of divorce haha isn't that funny" I don't see people talking about it.
Like, look at the way he writes about Stanley and the Bucket, as well as the apartment ending. It's pretty clear to me he was married once but eventually the marriage dissolved because he was spending too much time in his own head/talking to Stanley and neglecting his real life relationships.
I want more fics where we meet the Narrator's wife or hell even fics from her perspective.
Okay, first a full disclaimer- i do actually ship stannarrator and i am refering to their in-game relationship, not au's or other stuff.
Now that thats out of the way, stanley and the narrator have such a complex dynamic because they hate eachother but they also need eachother and they will constantly wear the other down but the other is also what gets the other going. This dynamic applies to any way you see their relationship, whether it's romantic, platonic or father and son, if you ignore these aspects of their relationship it isnt them. and of course the stanley parable is a game of contradictions so they are obviously going to be a complicated duo.
Now onto romantic stannarrator and how it isn't nessecarily healthy. so they are the only two people in this game, a man and the voice narrating his every move and the game is very clear they are the only two. now this gives them another key dynamic, they rely on eachother as much as they despise eachother and the curator put this really well. i also need to mention there are so many endings where the narrator puts stanley through physical and psychological torture as well as endings where stanley not so much tortures but messes with the narrator mentally, this obviously mkes their relationship unhealthy and like unhealthy ships are usually a no go, right? With this pair you couldnt be more wrong! they also have their moments of, emotional intimacy (for lack of a better phrase) which makes them so much more complicated.
Now im just yamming on but basically what im getting at is if you dont consider both the good and the bad of this ship you miss out on such an interesting dynamic!
Yes this is a late night, cant-find-a-fanfic-that-doesnt-mischaracterise-them induced rant and no this probably doesnt make sense.
