Final Project: Makin an arduino x processing code for a self watering pot plant. It detects the light and water levels and shows on screen if its good/ok/bad. This was in collaboration with Emaan (http://hartleybct.tumblr.com/) and we split this project by one person doing the LDR/Light detection (emaan) and the other doing Water level (myself). And because the Processing part is still new to both of us, we both decided to work on that together. Overall, there are some bugs to still fix but it does work (it has moments). And also the speed could be a bit faster... Below are some images and that icons that I drew up for our processing sketch.
Integrative WEEK 9
Wallets The person I was paired up with (abram) has my papers. But i decided to design a wallet that he can attach to onto his bags and clothing (because he likes less bulk and tends to have many cards). This exercise just felt okay. I did not learn anything new because it’s just second nature to me...
Integrative WEEK 6
Unfortunately I have lost my Lotus and Hat diagram from the lesson, but I do think that the exercise can help with creative thinking. I am personally an overthinker so it wasn’t brand new to me, but I think that writing out all the ideas that appear in your head and finding the similarities and narrowing it down really helps. I think that in the future, I will use this method but also with my own twist/how it works for me.
Integrative WEEK 5
Lo Fi Prototyping During lockdown I couldn’t make anything new but I did end up Photoshopping some images onto the Fort Lane reference images. I was thinking about a common problem with Auckland weather and how bipolar it is. You never know when it is going to rain! So maybe creating a new shelter for pedestrians using Fort Lane would be useful, but also implementing a light element to help during darker times at night. I think that it would help people wait out in the rain for their uber or just a nice place to take photos.
Integrative WEEK 3
Soundscape Studies Site One: On a hike to the falls I can hear the sounds of birds chipping and flying through the trees and as we were nearing the falls we could hear the crashing of the water. I think that through technology and design, I can make the space sound more intimate with nature by utilising the trees surrounding the falls because they absorb/gather the noise into one area. Maybe I can add pillars or materials that do not absorb the noise to bounce it around the area or focus it onto one designated spot. Site Two: City walk in Parnell On this walk, it was a Friday night in Parnell, and I could hear the rustle and bustle of the cars and people in the city. Mainly people. I think that through design and tech I can implement walls around certain areas to cut away from the city sounds and make a more intimate area. Site Three: Walk on a Football field No one was here and it was at night. It was really just silent and I could hear my footsteps on the wet grass, and the humming of cars in the distance. I think that redesigning the experience on this space would not work and I’d just leave this place be. I liked how silent and peaceful it was.

Integrative Practice Now you have tested Cultural Probes, suggest another scenario where they could be used (be specific, who and where)
Another scenario: Due to current events (COVID-19), we have to be more safe than ever. Being more hygienic, aware of social distancing, wearing a mask, and so forth. Because of this, public transport is more exclusive and “dangerous” find a solution for the people who use public transport during the pandemic to either stay safe, decrease the risk, or entertain them.
What might be some failings of this method, how might the probes fail to work? I believe that cultural probes can not work when it comes to being very specific of the target audience, there are chances that you are excluding other large groups. Yes, you would want to ‘get to know’ diverse groups, but maybe have it benefit all groups of the community.

First day back into Semester Two and this is my homework for Integrative Practices Our Task: In our groups, roam around outside and follow the instructions given e.g “find a word and draw it” and at the end we collage all our drawings together to make one large piece
As someone who enjoys drawing in their free time, I found this exercise really fun. I’m already very aware of my surrounding environment when it comes to drawing, but I think that it might’ve made others more aware of what textures, words, and other hidden details they haven’t seen before.
For future projects, I think that this will help me brainstorm my ideas of what textures or form I can use. Maybe I will go outside to find some texture inspiration to base my work on. Or I can always find words that inspire me that I can develop ideas around... Either way I’m excited for where this can take me

Here’s the video for Suburbia (Assessment 2 Studio)
Next time I’ll add music,,,

Here’s some mood-boards I made back like at the brainstorming/idea generation time. I wanted to look at some contrasting colour schemes and something a little more vintage but simple.
Perks of being more comfortable with photoshop and illustrator

HERES SOME EXPERIMENTING THAT I DID ON PHOTOSHOP FOR MY PALETTE AND LAYOUT/THEME
15 . 06 . 2020
I’ve been working on my programming and I was struggling at first thinking about a backup plan in case I can’t actually execute what I wanted.
At first my idea was to have the user pan their mouse and the sun and moon will rotate along with it. I DID DO IT however it wasn’t getting the result I wanted as the background was actually quite hard to modify with the change. I couldn’t find solutions to my errors. So I created something along the lines, in which I went through so many errors but overcame the obstacles.
I basically made a program that the user can click to “interact” with it and switch between a sun and a moon while music is playing and the image is slowly rotating.
Maybe for next time I’ll experiment with different background shapes maybe make a circle on a rectangle so it is a lot smoother...
Note: i drew the elements myself but sourced the music because I’m not musical :)))
01 . 06 - 16 . 06 . 2020
I’ve been draining all my brain power into this... I basically tried to change my idea for STUDIO many many times because I kept thinking about different possibilities and solutions to the problem. Plus I have been procrastinating an unbelievable amount so I can’t wait to get back to campus (if I can wake up).
Brain dump of LOW QUALITY images: (i’ll be get better for the assessment)

HELLO
I’ve been working on my Programming assignment all day wow (only the second one) !!!!
I feel like sleeping it off, even though I planned to get it done today!!! I made a program that like makes however many balls I want, but I can’t figure out a way for them to stick!!
MEANING I’M STUCK AHAHAH :”)
I’m not even sure if the balls are using the “Conservation of Momentum” because I honestly cannot tell/blind ahah,, But what I did do right is have a lot of balls just bouncing around the screen woooh
please save me this is due soon aaaaaa

I think I should stop thinking about what ideas to go with for the covid19 challenge and just stick to one :/
This time I think we got it? So let’s hope my brain stops producing so many different ideas and just focus on the one c:
I kinda think that the new idea brings people together and is something I really enjoy. Plus, if I were to make it actually happen, I have the connections and it can become a really cool feature for the locals. It’s basically a wall similar to CandyChang’s, that is about what we were to do if we perhaps ruled the world. or what we’d want to do after it’s over, etc. And maybe feature more things than just a wall??
I still need to make it more “unique” but I think that the simpler I go the better I can execute it and reflect on. I’d say this is more of a “caveman” project compared to my peers but at least I’m enjoyin’ in
