May be an unpopular opinion, but if ever HoO gets adapted into the Disney live action canon, Jason should be black (as a nonblack person please tell me if I'm overstepping).
Thalia Grace in the show is now played by a mixed race black actress. She is undeniably a POC. Rick already established through the books that there isn't really any "godly DNA" (mainly so as to not make their children dating each other weird). Across the books, the demigods' ethnicities are mainly determined by their human parents'. Thalia and Jason are full siblings; they share a human mother. It would be even more unreasonable if the show goes against their own canon and does some absurd mental gymnastics to justify why Jason isn't black.
I understand and admire Rick's essentially colorblind casting. It's a way of opening doors not only for young actors but for young audiences of different ethnicities and backgrounds to see themselves in these stories without having to justify themselves in this often bad-faith and gatekeeping nature of online discourse. However, it's also important to see ethnicity when it matters. They still may not restrict Jason's role to just black actors, but personally I think it would do the story a disservice. It's best to be specific and intentional when it matters. They should embrace the fact that by casting Tamara, they have determined Jason's ethnicity as well. In a narrative perspective, let them be undeniably blood siblings to really show Zeus's utter audacity to go back on his own law that doomed his kids and those of his brothers.

Tips from your friendly local woman with a job that gives people vicarious trauma.
- get a creative hobby. Self expression helps and so does practicing skills that use your hands if that's an option for you. Coloring counts.
- schedule downtime. You aren't a bad person if you need a break from the Horrors. You can get up to speed later. Turn off news alerts and stay off social media. Find something engaging to do and immerse yourself. At least a day or two a month. For best results, take your downtime with another human and talk about something other than the Horrors.
- get a physical hobby, if that's accessible for you. It's unfortunately true that exercise gives you endorphins. It's also good to get out of your head and into your body. Swimming is extra good because immersion in water triggers your mammalian diving reflex and calms your nervous system.
- mindfulness is another thing that I'm annoyed works but does. YouTube meditations, walking meditations, restorative practice yoga, etc.
- if you're like me, you may also need your own cannon of readings to fall back on- they don't have to be scripture from your faith (though those also work) but can be passages, poems, and song lyrics from any work where you find meaning. These help ground you and remind you of your role in all this tragedy.

got one of my friends and my roommate to read Ninth House + Hell Bent. recruit your friends please we need more people in this community badddddd
Every time I think about “A predilection for first editions and women who like to lecture me about myself” I literally wanna start gnawing on my kitchen counter. How the fuck did Leigh Bardugo do that
How it feels to watch The X Files and read Ninth House/Hell Bent at the same time, watching as—
1. two people (of opposite gender) with widely different world views work together to learn more about the unseen
2. who call each other by their last names
3. and have too much slow burn for their own good (so when they call each other by their first names it HITS)
KRIS WHERE THE HELL ARE WE??!!??
If I could draw…… the Ninth House/Hell Bent fandom would be so well fed you don’t understand. I just have ideas all day and have no idea how to actually make them
