Headcanon that Arthur's weirdly ugly yellow tie is a gift from Eames.
I mean, based on what we saw of his wardrobe, it doesn't really match his usual style, and yet here he is, proudly showing it off with no jacket or waistcoat to hide it (thanks for noticing @thenwhatthefukcisthis).
Maybe Eames gave it to him as a sort-of-joke one day, claiming Arthur’s wardrobe needed a bit more color, but didn't really expect Arthur to wear it. And to his knowledge he never did.
But Arthur is a sentimental fucker and so he wears it from time to time even though he doesn’t really like it, especially when he misses Eames, because it reminds him of him and makes him smile when he sees it... But also never when Eames is there too for fear of giving himself away.
Till inception.
I choose to believe finally wearing the tie so that Eames could see was a statement in and of itself. And paired with Arthur's charged "Eames, I am impressed" it makes for a subtle yet powerful declaration.
No wonder Eames was so thrown 😁

So, I was watching this scene again, as one does, and I realized that here is the first time we see Arthur smile at Eames.
And it's just the barest quirk of his lip, the barest hint of dimples, but god, Eames' reaction is so powerful. His own smile is the most brilliant we've seen.
And it made me wonder about Eames' reaction the first time he witnessed Arthur smile properly and openly. He must have been stunned, because how could he have known that serious, professional, tightly-wound pointman Arthur possessed such a beautiful sunny smile.
And maybe that's why he started poking at Arthur, he wanted to see that smile again, he wanted to be the one to put that smile on his face. And when he finally succeeded he was so blown, he felt like his heart had missed a beat, and when it restarted he was in love.

I’ve fallen down the Bane/Blake (honestly any Arthur/Eames iteration has my heart) fic hole and I don’t want to get out. I’ve been down here for some time and I’m looking for fic recs.
My most loved Bane/Blake fic is Red in Tooth and Claw by Corvin on Ao3 but I fear that it’s no longer being updated. I could cry honestly. It’s such a fleshy emotionally complicated fic with hard hitting issues and enough tenderness to make it all worth it. I love it.
Can you guys direct me to your fave Bane/Blake fics please?
whenever I read the screenplay I notice how easily dry this dialogue could’ve been in regards to the character dynamics. Yes there already is implied history written into the script but the wistful drawl with which Tom Hardy says “Arthur?” Gratuitously life-changing. TH and JGL SOLD that ship with their suggestive performances. Don’t even get me started on the ad-libbed “darling” and the hotel room PASIV scene.
I’m still not over this because like. Tom could’ve interpreted the first “Arthur?” In ANYYY other way. Based on the script it could’ve been read in a tone of contempt, disdain, dismissal, genuine disinterest. Instead we got that wistful and fond “Hmm..Arthur” paired with a little grin/chuckle
Like tell me I’m not crazy how did we get this lucky inception girlies it’s all in the acting TH and JGL served
Imagine people who’ve watched the TDK trilogy but not Inception and go on Ao3 to find one of the most popular ships is a random ass pairing of the murderous villain and an orphan cop who never even share a scene together in TDKR 😭😭 honestly power to Arthur and Eames because I personally find Bane/Blake a delicious dynamic despite no canon interactions and thank god for Inception for making this happen. It’s just such a funny concept to the outsider with no knowledge of Inception fandom lore though
Like imagine someone seeing the tags then going hmm..did I miss something? Then they rewatch TDKR and are literally met with nothing. Like no girl you didn’t miss shit; the reach of Inception is just too far. Very “if you know you know” situation

As for Inception, Gordon-Levitt’s character might be best remembered for his physics-defying hallway fight scene, but a small corner of the Internet prefers to see the film as a love story between his character, Arthur, and Tom Hardy’s Eames. When I bring this up, the actor smiles for a moment while calibrating his response. “I’ve seen some of that fan fiction,” he says. “It’s very inspired and inspiring.” As for whether there might be any credibility to those theories, your guess is as good as Gordon-Levitt’s. “What is credibility? Art is up to the viewer to be whatever they want it to be,” he adds wryly.

the fact that eames tells arthur it’s going to be difficult. yes it’s a warning, it’s a concern, but also, above all, it’s an acknowledgment. acknowledgement that what lies ahead is not a piece of cake.
now, arthur doesn’t need to be told that; he is capable of handling such a situation and probably have proved so many a times, but it doesn’t mean it’s not hard. and when someone does something seemingly effortlessly, people around them tend to take it for granted and may be see is as an easy task, often forgetting that it takes a lot of hard work to do so. that’s why eames telling arthur that he knows how rough things are going to get, a one line of concern, worry, assurance (and love, so much of love) all rolled to one but also, most importantly, letting the person knows what he does takes effort and he sees it and he appreciates it, is one of the best moments between them.
a relationship which allows you to rest cause the other knows that what you do is hard, and lets you know that, so even if you fail, you’ll be able to forgive yourself a little easier. is there anything more quintessentially dreamhusbands than that?
