The Grovyle fight in Crystal Cavern deserves more attention for what it is.

Hero and Partner standing against Grovyle, fighting for what they think is the future, as the last line of defense. There was no guarantee of Dusknoir saving them in time.

Vague, familiar emotions welling up in Hero as they make a stand. They need to save the future. They HAVE to. The heart beats faster and faster as passion wells up.

They're ready to die for this.

They don't know where such passion came from, but they fight harder and harder with bo regard for their own safety.

Meanwhile poor partner over here hasnt ever seen Hero get THIS intense, and does their best to keep up

They can see how much it means to Hero, but starts getting concerned when they aren't trying to dodge, all to get a better shot at the 'threat' to the Future

When the time comes and Hero is knocked aside? Partner stands firm. As their voice leaves them, as they stand between Grovyle and the battered body of Azelf.

Grovyle begins to prepare one last attack. No doubt one that is utterly lethal.

And Partner doesn't hesitate.

In their own way, Partner has taken up the mantle of Hero's old partner.

i really wonder what would happen if the hero broke down and told the partner what was going to happen if they fixed temporal tower

I am unable to find one post i saw a while ago about this exact subject that was incredible. it was about partner hesitating to put the time gears in place bc they were scared for hero, so the planet gets paralyzed, they fail in their mission, and when they return home they see the krabby bubbles on the beach completely stopped in time, a painful reminder of their mistake, and honestly, i haven't recovered from it, and it's a much better idea than i could ever come up with about these two.

If anyone remembers that post and finds it thatd be a huge favour ngl, bc it was amazing and i really wish to spread it around.

hyperfixating on dusknoir calling the player character and grovyle "traitors". does that mean they worked for dialga before deciding to change the future? does dusknoir simply mean "traitors" as in future pokemon attempting to change history? WHAT DOES HE MEAN???
