is there a reason you draw Croc with black lipstick? do you just think it looks nice or is there another reason :0!

I think I picked it up from @/nisir0 (on Twitter), whose Wani I absolutely adore ;; they always draw f!wani wearing black lipstick, and I love how that emphasises the "fullness" of the lips, which is something I rly like on the original design (in alabasta) too, especially for the lower lip! acquired through symbiosis wahaha

I feel like you understand all the characters you draw so perfectly,, croc & doffy especially so!!! you capture their dynamic sooo perfectly, around what age do you think croc transitioned !! the way you explore his gender and how it affects him is so cool so im curious

this is genuinely such a kind thing to say 😭😭 it's always something I worry a Lot about, whether or not I succeed to deliver my interpretation and whether or not it resonates with other people, so it's incredibly precious when I receive messages like yours ;; I've grown so attached to dof & wani (together and separate), so it means a lot that my interpretation still feels relevant, even if my output has gone down drastically bc of work ;; But I shall be back.....

As for Crocodile, I like to think he transitioned just about when puberty hit, or right after? So like 11-13~ years old, more or less 2 years. Maybe it's out of place and not necessarily in line with what transitioning generally represents in the Real World(tm), but I believe that for him, falling victim to discriminations and being diminished as an AFAB person was a huge catalyst, and that transitioning meant reclaiming control and power in a society that despised and limited him because of his body. So yeah, I think it may have happened right about when those differences became painfully obvious to him, in the way he was treated. though I love indulging in other theories hehehehe
