So. One question I have to ask the people of Flight Rising Tumblr:

If there was one feature you could add to Flight Rising, what would it be? Disregard any past statements of Staff saying they wouldn’t do it, coding limitations, it being generally unpractical, just any feature you’d really want.

Plague Flight dislikes necromancy because it cheats death. You're out of the game. Done. No take backs. No do overs.

but... what if it's not a do over...?

If the raised undead are completely unrecognizable, mentally, magically, physically, etc... if there is no trace of any distinct once living being... does it still count?

You have to reach some point where you can consider a scrap of bone or flesh a material. That's not someone's leg, it's a collection of bone and muscle. This isn't the resurrection of old life, it's the beginning of something entirely different. New life given to a dead shell like building a robot out of metal and lightning.

There could be, say... a courtesy period. A length of time that something must be dead before it's necromancy fodder. Time enough for the soul to depart properly, for anyone who'd care to to collect and entomb the body of they wish, for it to feed the scavengers and the opportunists.

But once the wastes have had their share, anything else is free game.

There's still a divide. Plague constructs are often made of bone and scales and feathers, things that stick around long term and aren't as edible. They look like animals usually but not like anything you can really identify. The hazebeacon is a good example. Is that a fire vulture? Well... no but it's kinda close. Weird.

This, in contrast to the ghosts and zombies and other raised dead one may find in Dragonhome. Beings that remember who they were at least in some part, or even still look very much alive like they'd always been...

Not all necromancy flies in the face of death.

many of the most powerful plague clans employ the services of a necromancer for this reason. in the wasteland, any help is useful, and if it’s unliving servants made of nothing but bone and plague magic and perhaps, if you’ve got a necromancer who likes them, fungi...

then that’s just recycling at it’s finest, really.
