I've seen many people confused at how she has hatchlings like this. I guess I should have put it in the description. Oops! She just handles the new hatchlings that "go up for sale" in that portion of my clan. She doesn't actually have them. Hope that clarifies. :)

Head canon time! I know this is probably already obvious from most of my noodle drawings but Noodle scarves are an incredibly common occurrence. Spiral Dragons are raised to seek out a singular “Most Important Dragon" also know to Spirals as a Napping Buddy. It can be considered an honor to become a Spirals nap buddy because it means that they trust them with their life and more.

This species-wide trend came about when the very first Spiral Dragons had been created by their Deity-Father, the Windsinger. As most of the young species fanned out across the world, following their inherent wanderlust, they stumbled into more and more danger- what with them being small and prone to passing out with barely a moments notice. So then these proto-noodles found larger dragons with a steadier sleep pattern to ride upon and travel with. As the First of their kind had offspring, and their offspring had offspring, and so on, it was passed down until it became tradition among the species. Even instinctual, some might argue, as even some Spirals not necessarily taught to will seek out a trusted life-long partner to coil around. Hatchlings of mixed parents will naturally gravitate to coiling around their bigger siblings.

Even the Windsinger himself has adopted this trend. Dragons blessed to be near their gods find it an rather common sight for the Windsinger to be tangled around their patron deity- whether they actually enjoy the physical contact or not- talking their ear off.

All of my Spirals Have Napping Buddies except Aether and Aura, who rarely leave their humble shrine now-a-days and so usually hover around the stones and bamboo structures that decorate the shrine. I guess it could be considered their Napping Buddy but Spirals don’t really give that title to inanimate objects or places, only to living, moving beings. If they were to ever travel again they would probably pick one from the clan to serve as their protector.

Reeeally quick scribble of what my lair probably looks like? Needs a lot of tweaking but this is the basic concept O:

the steam caused from the lava flowing into the ocean kinda rises up and cleans the ash and smoke from the air. It also keeps the ground saturated which allows plants to grow, almost like a jungle with the heat + moisture

I didn’t get the sense of scale that i wanted.. the larger caves can house multiple average size imps… and idk it just doesn’t look like that would really work XD ill get it fixed up though.

“Yes, the Bestiary of Sornieth. My life’s work! All the animals of the world – I’ve been studying them for an age! It is not finished, but it may never be finished, of course. That is a copy of the published version, although I’m always adding new things in my fieldbooks. The world is a wondrous place, my dear. You said you can’t read Draconic? That’s alright – it’s mostly illustrated these days.”

“..Huh. Why is there a centaur in here? Next to… a seal?”

“What do you mean? Oh! It’s alphabetic. Dappled Dunhoof, Dappled Seal.”

“Not all Dunhoof are dappled… but that’s not what I mean. I mean, why did you put a centaur in the animal book? Centaurs aren’t animals! They’re people. …Oh!! And here is a Longneck! Oh, lots of them actually. Are they… different clans? This one is wearing a scarf like mine! What is this word here?”

“Ah, that would be interloper.”

“…..Huh! Well, we’ve got a lot of work to do, but don’t worry, I’m going with you. I’ve always wanted to travel!”

“What are you talking about?”

“Rewriting your book, of course! We’ll start with my clan; I think I can get Paitro to give you a brief history, and that should be fine for a book like this. There is a Serthis tribe that’s been living a little south of here since before the Shatter, we’ll definitely stop there –”

“My dear! Slow down! That’s not what this book is for – I’ve been working on this for centuries –”

“I know! You’re so lucky I’m here to help now.”
