The OA reaches captives in every dimension. Each character caged in a different way, as if everyone were looking at the extent of the cosmos and hearing a different voice. O unites them, makes them see their cell not as a barrier, but as a window. Some trees in the forest don’t open up their hard protective cones to release seeds until the fires come… the same fires that burn everything else to the ground. I think The OA fandom is a bit like the conifers of the forest. In the wake of devastation, we shed our hard protective shells and released our hearts into the world. It’s a beauty born of sadness, but a powerful signal of rebirth and new life.
