For me it’s all the good and bad and everything in between. It’s the light that glimmers in your eyes when you get excited, it’s the pain you try to hide when you struggle to open up. It’s your ability to be vulnerable and kind after everything. It’s your will to change and want to be better. It’s your laugh at the stupidest little things that make you fall over and hug yourself. It’s your passion for the things you love. It’s how intelligent you are without realizing it. It’s your humor to turn a bad mood into a good one. It’s your compassion to help wherever you can. I could keep going but it comes down to the fact that as imperfect as you may feel at times you are so much more than you realize. You are a total goofball, stupidly smart, annoyingly kind, intriguingly complex, genuinely handsome, and are beyond good enough. You are so much more than you give yourself credit for and deserve nothing less than spectacular.

Magnificent!

The Boogeyman

You pounced on us without warning We knew not what to do Thinking you were one of the good guys Never expected that from you Never expected the Bogyman To look as good as you Or have a tongue like a hatchet And a fist to match it Your violence and hatred toward us Was unnecessary, uncalled for and unjust Disrespect for women That’s what’s behind it With your own self - importance and power You were indeed blinded You seem to have a mean streak Think that women are weak We’ve got news for you That is not true That’s just taboo Expected us to go quietly away We went, but did not stay Now we shall have our say You thought our silence Condoned your violence Gave you consent That’s not how it went Why should you use An excuse to abuse Haven’t you heard the news The new views Zero tolerance for violence It makes more sense Calling it ‘rough sex’ What next You had no doubt You could talk your way out You just looked at us and grinned Smirked… Tell it to the wind It could be very well true That others knew And upheld you But, that’s not how it is anymore Of that you can be sure Women don’t have to be afraid We can call “a spade, a spade” You made a choice Not to be nice A long, time ago So … You’d better know This is a different day and age You’ll have to learn, to control your rage Lying won’t help you turn the page You might as well confess You know the power of The Press Where ever you go, people will know What you did. It won’t be hid Like it used to be The truth has set us free You could be detested, protested Even arrested … In time What a waste of your prime If you don’t heed the writing on the wall This could be your downfall You need help … You need it bad Or this could all end up … real sad © 2014 Cora J. Soldiers

Soldiers are like arrows

They go where they are sent

Never, underestimate them

For, they are hell bent

They’re only following orders

I’ve often heard, it said

But, once they cross, your borders

You’ll still be, just as dead

They are trained to destroy

To never ask why.

You may be old and wise

Most of them, young girls and boys

But, like I just said

You’ll still be just as dead

The war machine has to be fed

But, when they’re on our side

Our hearts swell with pride

For, we know that we’re on

The winning side

Our fear is gone, no need to hide

When, we’ll have peace … God will decide

They only fight, for what is right

Force back our enemies

With all their might

Young lives on the line

All the time, rain or shine

Twenty four seven

One foot on terrafirma

The other in Heaven

It is what it is

And always shall be

Peace is priceless

It has never been free

May God guide and bless

And grant them rest

Though, their day be long

They carry on

The best of the best

So brave … So strong

Pinch of Sin

With a pinch of sin

I followed him

With a girl down Lover’s Lane

With a pinch of sin

I vowed in secret that revenge I had to gain

With a pinch of sin

I wrote a letter aimed to break his cheating heart

With a pinch of sin

I phrased each sentence to tear his world apart

For, I wrote I didn’t love him. That I never had

Added that I was above him

Though it made me feel quite bad

I know that words are empty

Coming from a jealous heart

Realize I could forgive him

Make a brand new start

But, when the one you loves betrays you

Then revenge sets in

And, you plan to get even

With a pinch of sin

Tree of Life

If we don’t stop destroying each other

If we don’t stop killing one another

Our children won’t have

A father or a mother

We have to love one another

As a sister and a brother

Leaves from the same tree

Can’t be better than each other

Silently Weeping

Take my heart but treat it tenderly

Please be kind to it, for it’s still part of me

For, hearts, have a way of silently weeping

And, nobody knows, the secrets they’re keeping

When, you’re young, you just don’t realize

You should listen, to the old and wise

They’ll tell you, they’ll beg and they’ll plead

But, young and foolish hearts, just won’t heed

If, you would only look into their eyes

You would see, that hurt has made them wise

For, hearts have a way, of silently weeping

And, nobody knows, the secrets they’re keeping

Don’t tell me you understand

How can you? You’re too young and bland

And please don’t tell me, what to do

I’ve tried it all! There’s nothing new

I’m not a child! My fears are real

God only, knows, just how I feel

You all mean well I know you do

But,, listen to, a word or two

And scattered time

Just hold my hand

Years down the road

You’ll understand

At first, I was perfect

You told me so

Then, I wasn’t thin enough

So, I went on a diet

And, found, it rough

Then, I wasn’t tall enough

So, I wore high heels

And, found running, tough

For, I was never, fast enough

Or, pretty enough

Or, smart enough

Oh, I was smart enough

Smart enough

To say, ENOUGH

The devil’s sales pitch

The Devil’s Sales Pitch The Devil’s Sales Pitch The devil wanted to destroy The earth, our mirth Our nice blue sky He hated mom and apple pie He couldn’t do it, all along When, everyone knew right from wrong Forever on guard, day and night Wouldn’t trust him, out of our sight Then, he came up with a plan He jingled coins and we all ran He said that we could all get rich It was just a sales pitch But it worked, so he jerked Our chain, again and again He planted greed, the evil seed That makes us want more than we need We could never get enough Pretty things, fluff and stuff Lots of money, lots of fun Our downward spiral had begun We all love money, way too much We all crave The Midas Touch The Devil knew that from the start Knew exactly, how to play his part First, he had to make wrong seem right Reassured us, our future was looking bright Let things seem rosy, nice and cozy As, he made haste slowly Getting rid of all that’s Holy How were we to know How low he would go His only goal … Our soul By the way, I’d like to say We’re getting wiser, every day There’s nothing wrong with being rich Only when it’s, the Devil’s sale’s pitch © 2015 Cora J. Domestic Abuse

When all it takes Is

“I love you”

And, that makes

Everything right

After, every fight

Every night

It’s more tragic

Than magic

True love

Never runs smooth

An excuse to be rude

Act crude

Gaining power

By the hour

While you cower

No one tells

Walking on eggshells

Every day

Every day a Power Play

Every day you stay

You say okay

It’s okay to treat you that way

Good thing you’re strong

You carry on

That’s no way to live

Trying to fill a sieve

Until you’ve got no more to give

Then, one day you wake uo

No more kiss and make up

Shattered dreams

Falling apart at the seams

Nerves gone

Everything’s wrong

What’s going on

At the end of your rope

Trying to cope

Still clinging on to false hope

False hope keeps you blind

It’s all in your mind

You’re too kind

You’ll never find

The truth behind

The scenes

The scemes

How mean someone’s been

But that’s okay

For today

Finally opened you eyes

Realize

Push has come to shove

Now you know

You’ve got to go
