Apparently we will be teaching a couples floristry class on the same day as me and my girlfriends anniversary. Which leaves me in a prime position to make things super awkward. I can either perform heteronormativity to a bunch of strangers or I can be obnoxiously gay about it and I think we all know which way I'd like to go here.

"Do you have any plans for valentine's day?"

"Oh, I'll be working all day, but today is our anniversary!"

"Oh! How long have you been married?"

"We're not married yet, but we're planning on it this year."

"Congratulations! How long?"

"Ten years."

"Ten.. ten years and you're still not married?"

"Well, in our defense, it was illegal for the first four years."

I have had this conversation... more than once. It's great to see the wheels turn.
