The thing that I love about ineffable husbands is itās just such a tender ship; even the angst is tender. And the fandom has just embraced that with open arms. The fanfic is tender. The fanart is tender. The various headcanons are tender. God, I love everybody in this bar.Ā
Do you have any tips for what to do when you're feeling very stressed/anxious? How do you relax?
I do ! I donāt get as anxious and stressed as I use to but I still do sometimes but in the past i did a lot of things, a lot of these things are probably really generic though
Watched my favorite youtubers or found new youtubers to watch
Rewatched my old favorite shows / animes / reread stories i really loved
Played with my pets ( if you have no pets a virtual pet can help ! )
Listened to HAPPY music, specifically feel good music, some people like listening to sad music but it doesnāt always help, listening to upbeat music helps ! Maybe music without lyrics is good too, like video game music.
Draw if you like drawing !Ā
Write if you like writing !
Take a shower or bath, relax in them ! you deserve it
Play a video game you like that wonāt make you angry or stressed
talk to someone ! you donāt always need a solution but just talking and having someone validate your concerns helps and sometimes people can offer nice help !
if you are able to take an hour nap maybe ? i know itās a typical thing to take naps to ESCAPE depression and stress instead of deal with it but sometimes you just need some rest and you do deserve rest just so long as you donāt use it to get away from those things rather then to help with completing those things
write down what you need to do that might be stressing you and make a plan ! try to rationalize it all as best you can, when you are anxious it will blow things up a lot so trying to rationalize your thoughts will help bring you down from that anxiety highĀ
hope any of this helps ! itās very in general things but sometimes having someone tell you a solution can help a lot
Things that help me cope with anxiety
Hot baths
Steamy tea or cocoa
Cuddling cats
Watching Disney movies
Listening to Harry Potter audiobooks
Falling asleep to calming music or ambient noise ASMR
Curling up in warm, fluffy blankets
Drawing pretty girls and boys in a sketchbook
Coloring books!!
Being open and expressing my worries to good friends and close family, who reassure and comfort me.
Playing Animal Crossing
I was going through old files earlier, and found this audio I forgot to post. It helps with my anxiety, so I thought Iād share it, in case anyone else needed it. Full transcript under the cut, and never forget that youāre enough. [xx] ā¤

Hello! I'm very sorry to bother you but I read your post on intrusive thoughts and wanted to ask your opinion. I very often get flashes of situations where I harm myself (by accident or on purpose) but never other people. What happens is that I am thinking about woodworking, for example, and I picture and kind of experience what would happen if I sawed my finger off. My mind kind of blacks out and my response is often to cover my eyes. Are these thoughts considered intrusive? What can I do?
yes, thatās absolutely a kind of intrusive thought!Ā if this is really distressing for you, the basic gist of what Iāve learned from the book I like so much is:
-theyāre entirely natural (which is why everyone has them)-they donāt mean anything, and thoughts donāt have any bearing on the real world-they do not represent things you actually want to do.-also: when you are immersed in an anxious state, your brain gets very focused on Needing To Do Something Right Now, which is part of what makes the thought feel like an impulse.-(although of course these kinds of thoughts are SO widely varied that theyāre not always based on picturing yourself doing something, and can sometimes be just an image or a feeling)
steps for handling it in the moment:1. identify it as an intrusive thought2. recognize that itās just a thought (not reality, no bearing ON reality)3. accept it (this one is hard, and takes a little mental adjustment)4. just kind of float on the feelings youāre having (again, requires mindfulness and a recognition that your brain is just gonna do its own thing)5. let time pass (because if you donāt give it attention, a fear response only lasts so long)6. continue with what you were doing as soon as you can.
anyway, having said all that, again, I got it from a book and am not a trained professional, so YMMV!Ā if itās severely affecting your everyday life, please do seek professional help.Ā again, having these thoughts is normal!Ā Ā becoming overly conscious, fighting against them, and getting super anxious about it, not so much.Ā but youāre not alone either way. <3Ā
Quick Self-Care/Relaxation Tricks
1) Are you breathing shallowly? Breathe slow and deep (try a count of four seconds in, six seconds out) three times in a row to lower your stress hormones, coax your body out of fight-or-flight, and think more clearly
2) Unclench your teeth and relax your jaw
3) Widen your angle of view to use your peripheral vision! Tunnel vision/only taking in whatās right in front of you tells your body that thereās a predator or imminent danger, and most of us spend all day like that. Widening your awareness as often as possible to whatās on either side of your direct focus is grounding and relaxing
4) Are your shoulders hunched? Is your head jutting forward on your neck? Correct your posture any time you think about it - better sometimes than not at all, right?
5) Are you still breathing slow, or had you gone back to shallow breaths already? I had!
Calm breathing and peripheral vision, you got this! I believe in you! <3 <3 <3
