it didn’t surprise him—to have his question be mirrored by her, rather than to give him something concrete as an answer. it was a habit that he too, had developed over the years as a means to avoid giving pieces of himself to others. that way, he could conserve that air of mystery that surrounded him & divert attention from the many masks he wore. just as people visited museums to admire the greek sculptures, he wished for others to admire him all the same & pay no mind to the obvious cracks that appeared even in these, as a result of time.
he does not hide it; doesn’t feel the need to do so. something told her that as good of a liar as he may be, someone like her would be able to see right through. after all, the escort played the same game as his—hiding behind a mirage that was carefully constructed, not for themselves, but for everyone around them. it would be a waste of spit to even attempt to lie.

♡ — it was ironic , wasn't it ? their version of being ‘ seen ’ meant that they were simultaneously the centre of attention and invisible. of course they were seen for their exceptional outward appearance and their precisely calculated character that had been constructed purely for financial gains , but what lied beneath ? even people such as them could forget their true selves while craving it be acknowledged all the same. a not so funny little paradox.
“ perhaps you’re right -- ” the escort purred softly , eyes glimmering up at him. “ shall we change the subject , or the scenery~ ? ” she was only teasing , it was evident in her smile. however , truthfully she wouldn’t have passed up on the idea of going somewhere a little less rambunctious. “ would it be too forward to ask you your true reason behind inviting me here tonight , or was it simply a matter of boredom ? ” not that she picked han as the kind of man who acted on impulse as opposed to very precise planning.
