When not out in the field comparing the growth patterns of Verdra plants vs. Pilka, Pern can be found in libraries and book shops, digging through dusty tombs for the rare gems hidden within. His favorite genre? Natural philosophy.

Build: Thin yet reasonably fit, suited for traveling while doing field research and not much else. Mystery how he manages to swing a giant hammer around
Attire: In town, usually wears formal wear. Outside, slim heavy armor. Pants in most outfits more due to personal preference than to gender norms.

Pern takes good care of his appearance, making sure to always look neat and presentable. Although when alone out in the field, this might take a backseat to getting his work done. He likes others who share this mindset, but isn't too judgmental for those who think otherwise.
In regards to combat, Pern tends to avoid conflict but can hold his own if needed. Like all other royally appointed officials, he's been trained in self-defense. While he's not the best at his class, Pern is surprisingly strong. He usually goes for knocking down opponents and either, A.) pounding them into submission, or B.) running away. Despite being intellectually minded, he's not that creative when it comes to fighting and is easily outsmarted this way. It's a sore spot for him that he refuses to acknowledge.
Personality Traits:
Pern has a tendency to wander, both physically and mentally, unless something catches his attention. When that happens be prepared for hyperfocus and excessive enthusiasm.
He's not actively social, keeping to himself mostly. Weeks could past by before he notices he hasn't spoken to anyone besides his plants. He wouldn't really mind, in all honesty.
When he does come into contact with others, Pern's pretty bold with what he chooses to say, but doesn't like to talk about feelings. He's fairly confident in his opinions and tries to keep things lighthearted despite what the atmosphere may be. Interestingly, he makes an effort to be quite polite to identified females due to his upbringing's traditional chivalric values.
If prompted, Pern prefers to show his appreciation through gestures and gifts rather than verbally. He's particularly caring towards the few people he lets in his inner circle.

Matriarchal society/values, males more likely to stay behind, believed to have been created to serve/to tend to household while others are gone
Believe that females should be able to do whatever they want, males are there to facilitate their needs/desires
Males wear clothing that appears feminine to outsiders, but actually socially acceptable to them. And so mistaken for the wrong gender a lot
Pern is fairly self-sufficient and financially stable. Working directly for the monarchy, he has been granted permission to leave Pora Elinu and conduct field research. He publishes papers and scientific illustrations to nature journals on a semi-regular basis. He's a bit of a workaholic and considers himself mainly married to his studies. However, he isn't against the occasional tryst every now and then when he's back in town in between projects. Pern enjoys good conversation and equally stimulating company.☆
