nick was a very gifted warlock growing up , his parents deciding to homeschool him to allow him to study his witchcraft than to send him off into the mortal world to learn their customs . being an only child , he was their pride and joy , surprising him at a young age with his very own wolf familiar named amalia .Β

at the mysterious death of his family , all he had left was amalia who raised him as if he was her own cub . he didnβt have a true place to call home , constantly moving when the weather would change to winter season . amalia would protect him from other packs and witch covens , wanting him all to herself .
nick would eventually come across a mortal family who peaked his interest , watching them from afair , feeling envious . the mortal daughter had the most loveliness singing voice that drew him in . it took him several trails and errors of removing her memories of their first meeting to be comfortable establishing himself into her world . once amalia caught wind of nick being around life that wasnβt herβs , she killed the girl out of jealousy and possessiveness , much to nickβs horror . he vowed then to never get caught up with mortals again .

nickΒ was traveling in the mountains when he came across the academy of unseen arts , finding a way to escape amalia to find himself a new home . as much as he loved amalia , per the academy rules about not allowing familiars , nick had to banish her far from him . anytime he would start dating , amalia would somehow return to scare them away from nick , eventually making him have to kill her once she tried to kill one of the witches he was with .
nick came up to one of the highest ranked students in the academy , admiring the work of edward spellman , and wanting to become a skilled conjurer .
