Hi, you beautiful creatives. This is PznApple, here to give you all one last message. I check in on the discord now and then, and while I’m not part of Poizen anymore, I want to offer something to everyone wondering what’s going on. I hope it’s not going to step on any toes of the other people who worked on Poizen with me. But as the one who was the voice of the whole project, I suppose after all of this time, it’s up to me to wrap things up and share a little.
Some eyes may see this and get nervous, but I think I’ve always managed to keep our communication tactful and, for the sake of Poizen to grow, fun. This wont be fun, but it’ll serve it’s purpose.
Before you read all of my melancholy below, I don’t know more than the rest of you about the status of the site. As far as I’m aware the servers were suppose to go offline in December. Ivy was intending to give the code to another group so long as they rebrand. And the Poizen discord would stand as the remaining halls of a once vibrant, up and coming site...
I was approached to help work on Poizen at one of the busiest times of my life. It was almost a year before our closed-alpha launch in December 2018. Normally, I don’t take on projects like this, but I.. I had something that the team at the time needed, and I really believed in the vision. I create, I write stories and tinker on comics, but I’ve never felt good enough-or.. confident enough to push my content. But this, at the time what was an unnamed project, it was something I could get behind. So, I helped set soft goals for the team, I learned about internet website laws, and started drafting the voice of the site. That “cheery, semi-casual, come hang out” tone that you’ve come across all over the site and the socials.
I grew to love this project like I didn’t think would happen.
And then we launched, and I was scared. We had thousands of sign-ups in a matter of weeks, and all of the site’s pains and flaws were out there, but you, the community, were patient and worked with us. Ivy, Dart, Oaky, and I couldn’t believe how excited everyone was. We knew we had something worth working on, but.. I don’t know. Thank you. There is no ‘but.’ Which is why it’s taken me this long to post. I cared so much about Poizen.
A lot of what happened was out of my hands. One party may have thought this, and the other felt that, but something we all agreed on early on happened. Personal stuff didn’t simply get in the way, it broke the core of Poizen. I only know so much of what happened and it’s not my place to say either, and I hope anyone reading this can respect the four of us to not pry. It was devastating-I didn’t say “it broke Poizen” for dramatic effect.
Last summer; the week this happened, I was just dumbstruck that everything fell apart. Then I was angry. I felt like I was making a difference for a ton of people who were doing what I couldn’t, and I wanted to champion that for years. And it was gone. There’s still a list somewhere in my Poizen files on my PC of features that were being worked on, ones that just needed to go live, ones that were next. Even now I don’t think I’m completely okay about this, I want to cry-I want to scream-I wanna.. I wanted to know sooner that things were going to hell to the degree that was not obvious at the time to those involved. Things were brought to my attention, but I couldn’t have known that they were dire enough to end this beautiful project. For as busy as I was I would have forced the time and forced shit out in the open between us. I had just finished my degree, I was dating again, I was running around like crazy getting my internship locked down, and it felt like Poizen was set to cruise happily along at that point. But, maybe it’s because I was so busy that I couldn’t see fully what was happening.
I don’t know what else to say.. I left because I couldn’t fill the roles that were suddenly empty or really parse how to make a plan to move forward like I was able to do the year prior. All the time and effort I put in, all I wanted for myself was a Poizen Nib pin to put on my blouse or backpack or something. But here we all are. I think most of us are doing good. I don’t know what any of the others who worked on Poizen think about everything, but I hope they can heal from what happened. I’ve put a lot of thought and effort into separating the events of Poizen’s calamity from the people I worked with here, and wish them all the happiness. Every last drop.
Again, I think we all likely want to be left alone concerning Poizen. If Ivy comes back to pass the code along, that’s up to them. I hope all of you understand.
This is a bittersweet chapter of my life that I’ll always cherish. Thank you so much you creative people.
Wash your hands, sweet dreams, and don’t ever forget-
Hello lovely Creators!
Over the past few weeks you've likely seen some new features over on poizen.me
Email notifications have been live with the ability to adjust what sort of communications you want to receive from the site.
Our latest update, released over the weekend, brings in our first version of browsing! As of now there are only a few filters; by Creator (sorted by site usage), or by Images (sorted by recently uploaded)
Like emails you can opt out of appearing in searches from your settings page.
We will be expanding browsing with tags and searching soon (mobile optimization too)! We want these features just as much as the eager feedback we've received from all of you wonderful Creators 💜
Lastly, thank you all for being here during alpha! It's not a stretch to say we wouldn't have come this far without you. As diligent as we are, we do have some growing pains and want to remind you if you find any bugs or NSFW not properly marked to please reach out!
i seem to have a problem with receiving the money through the commissioner is there anyway that then can send the money though the invoice
Currently there is no on site payment processing. This is one of the key features we are taking our time to build. We want to have this feature perfect so that when it is launched it’ll be intuitive and work seamlessly (of course we won’t enforce on site payment once it’s live in a few months, we want artists and their supporters to pay with what they’re comfortable with). Until then you’ll have to use your preferred off-site payment processor.
In case you’re curious what we may use to process payments, we’re looking into Stripe, BrainTree and a couple others so we can offer on site payments without too large of a fee.
Does poizen have a way to change the username? I mistakenly used all small letters instead of the intended two big letters for my nickname. Would be cool, if it can be adjusted without deleting an already created profile.
Unfortunately anonymous asks can’t be answered privately. We have plans for the ability to change a profile name, but it’s a ways off, so I’d suggest hopping into our discord and pinging the #help channel. During alpha we are willing to help (as long as this isn’t too common place to the point of us not getting work done lol) or, like mentioned, you can delete the profile and re-set it up.
You guys probably get this a lot, I was wondering if poizen would ever get an app sometimes in the future? That'd be pretty awesome^^
Mobile has been on our mind since we started working on PoiZen! We’re going to put some elbow grease on the features out there to have them working better on mobile and make future features release with mobile support.
As for an app, as of now we don’t have plans for one due to the amount of work it’ll take, and because we’ve seen some controversies from various app stores about digital art apps being thrown under the bus. Our long term answer is not a no though c:
Hey PoiZen community! We've been hard at work the past week, and thought we'd highlight a feature less known around the user-base; access to two profiles under one account!
You can access this in your settings via the cog icon and going to My Profiles.
Click "Add second profile." Put in the name you want for that profile and tick off what kind of profile it is.
Then get to work setting it up however you intend to use it! Perhaps your a creator that needs two different sets of tiers, or you're someone who wants a creator profile and a separate commissioner profile.
You can always change the settings of any profile you create to re-purpose them as you evolve. However you may put your profiles to use, we hope you create well!
PoiZen launches our alpha build tonight at midnight PST.
Tell all the freelance creators and supporters you know to reserve their username and join alpha before it's too late over at https://poizen.me
PoiZen is an online freelance creative space going live at the end of the year! We’re creator focused, and we have built PoiZen.me with all the features you want.
While you’re waiting grab your name over at https://poizen.me/
Then, join the growing community on discord! discord.gg/HC8CBkb
Hey, we hope your day is going great! Let’s get down to talking about the first thing you’ll go to customize when you first log in to PoiZen: your profile!
We’re not out to reinvent the wheel, so the basics of our profile system will come naturally when you use it.
The tiers for freelancers is where supporters can purchase the creations they’re envisioning.
Your Portfolio and Collections (being changed from Stash) will be the sections for all of your creative works!
At the beginning of alpha uploading to your profile is unfortunately limited to images, but we’ll be expanding quickly into written work, audio, and more!
More profile details are coming this week! Don’t forget to go nab your username over on PoiZen!
There’s a lot, but here’s the highlights!
1. PoiZen offers beautiful profile pages that serve two purposes; make artist price tiers easily accessible, and be a gallery for all of the art you create or purchase.
2. The PoiZen project tracker tool will be familiar to ones you may have used before, but our tracker is designed with features for creatives making and purchasing art.
3. To compliment the tracker we have a notification system that tells artists when they have new proposals, the client when a proposal is accepted or completed, and a message box for when you need to know specifics about the project, like references or pricing.
Over the coming weeks leading up to alpha we’re going to be posting more details about all of the features PoiZen will bring with our first build! Until then you can reserve your username on our landing page!
