"Good job, Jenn, just great, you're so..."
He hadn’t missed the shiver, and her failed attempts to defend herself could really only fall on “deaf ears.” This was getting rather pitiful, truly. The girl was such a mess that she couldn’t form a decent sentence. All thanks to her addled mind, she was like a trapped bunny rabbit.
He could imagine the girl screeching like one, bare minimum, and that was enough.
This time, the boy openly displayed some incredulity with a roll of his eyes. “Will you, really?” He prodded, smirking sardonically now. “Admit it - - even now, you’re in over your head, aren’t you?” The boy didn’t give her any time to respond as he shook his head and continued, “Accept my help, then perhaps I can dig you out. Or, just look at it another way - - you’ll no longer be alone if I am around.”
He smirked and stared off at the rain. “I think I make a decent enough companion.” Yet he was hard to read and whether or not he was truly sincere, or if he had good intentions, could not be figured out by his tone or his expressions.
He didn’t think it mattered if the girl’s problems had nothing to do with kitty-kat, because this was something for him to do in the long shot. Things had been far too quiet and relaxed for him as it is.
And if she did have a connection to his “gal,” then it was all the better.
Not that he thought this rabbit of a girl would accept his “help” or company so readily. All the better still.
This would be a good game.
At the very least, Jenn didn't trust the young boy beside her. Unfortunately, that would have very little effect on how she behaved from here on out. Truly and honestly a coward at heart, she was. She let her eyes wander across his face for a moment, pathetically attempting to understand him. He was messing with her. Every bit of her told her that.
Of course, of fucking course, she couldn't say no. He was offering to help. She didn't know how to keep denying him... if there was even a chance he was being sincere, she couldn't dare be rude. She simply wouldn't. Her fingers twitched, wanting to move around each other and fidget, but she didn't move them.
An offer to help. More than what she had right now from anyone else she knew. It was less of an offer than a demand, however, which made her feel powerless. Hell, she was powerless. What was the point? For a long moment, however, she stayed painfully silent. She would say yes, of course, but she didn't know how to vocalize her feelings. She felt like a wreck-- and as soon as she got a moment away from him, she'd probably melt into a sobbing mess.
Instead, her body language shifted into resignation, her head dipping down in what might have been a half of a lame nod, her eyes falling to her twitching, anxious digits. A small sound was uttered from her throat -- "mhn," -- hardly more than a brief noise.
