Farming Hordes for Easy Shinies! - Shiny Hunting Guide - Pokemon X and Y by TyranitarTube
Okay, so first things first, I know this blog is super new, but some stuff came up and I may have to take a few breaks from the computer for the next few days. On top of that, I'm leaving on a cruise from the 16th to the 23rd, and wifi isn't free.
So, I guess you could say we're on a bit of a hiatus, but I will be putting some things on queue for the cruise.

Kalos' Leader Guide - Grant/Cyllage City
The Basics:
Grant's type specialty is rock type, his gym being made up of rock walls. To make it to Grant, you have to make it to the top, and on the path that makes it there, you'll meet some trainers who are ready to battle!
The gym:
The path you should take to get to the top is:
Take the only rock wall you see until you come to a road fork.
Take the left rock wall and continue on that path of rock walls.
After you pass two sand hills, skip the first rock wall and turn the corner
Go up the next rock wall. (After you battle the trainer, or not. If not stick to the wall to stay out of her line of sight)
Continue going on the rock walls, you'll come across a mountain hiker, and you can skip him or not. Once you get past him, you'll climb the final rock wall to Grant.
Type Analysis:
Being a rock type gym, the three best types to use would be Fighting, Water, Ground, and Steel type. It's not recommended to use Ice, Fire, Flying, or Bug type, as they're all weak to Rock.
The pokemon that are effective and can be found for battling against Grant are:
Golett - Route 10 - Ground/Ghost Type
Encounter rate: Average
Hawlucha - Route 10 - Fighting/Flying Type - Flying is weak to rock
Encounter rate: Average
Mienfoo - Route 8 - Fighting Type
Encounter rate: Rare
Meditite - Connecting Cave - Fighting/Physic Type
Encounter rate: Average
Hippopotas - Route 9 - Ground Type
Encounter rate: Common
Sandile - Route 9 - Ground/Dark Type
Encounter rate: Common
Machop - Glittering Cave - Fighting Type
Encounter rate: Average
Cubone - Glittering Cave - Ground Type
Encounter rate: Average
Rhyhorn - Glittering Cave - Ground/Rock Type
Encounter rate: Rare
Mawile - Glittering Cave - Steel/Fairy Type
Encounter rate: Very rare
Ferroseed - Glittering Cave - Steel/Grass Type - Drops from the ceiling
Encounter rate: Average
Croagunk - Route 7 - Fighting/Poison Type
Encounter rate: Average
Ducklett - Route 7 - Water/Flying Type - Flying is weak to rock
Encounter rate: Rare
I'm sure there's more pokemon, but for the sake of my sanity, I'll leave you with these guys.
Gym Trainers:
There are four trainers in Grant's gym besides himself. The trainer classes of these trainers are:
Rising Star (2)
Hiker (2)
Trainers:
Rising Star Didier -
Dwebble - Lvl 21 - No Items
Relicanth - Lvl 23 - No Items
Rising Star Manon -
Solrock - Lvl 22 - No Items
Lunatone - Lvl 22 - No Items
Hiker Craig -
Roggenrola - Lvl 24 - No Items
Hiker Bernard -
Rhyhorn - Lvl 21 - No Items
Nosepass - Lvl 21 - No Items
Onix - Lvl 21 - No Items
Most of these trainers aren't mandatory to fight, so you could entirely skip them or sneak around hem.
Grant’s Team:
Amaura - Lvl 25 - No items Moves: Aurora Beam, Rock Tomb, Thunder Wave, Take Down Ability: Refrigerate
Tyrunt - Lvl 25 - No items Moves: Rock Tomb, Bite, Stomp Ability: Strong Jaw
That completes Leader guide number 2! I'm gonna keep the same format, as it looks pretty good to me.

SHINY HUNTING GUIDE 1
Since so muc people asked I did a Guide :)
More will follow soon !
If you find any mistakes please feel free to correct me or if you want to add something !
The shiny fishing and matsuda method guide will follow later !
Hello!! Sorry for not updating yesterday, truthfully, I was trying to hatch some shiny pokemon... all day. But today when I logged on, I found myself staring at this:
This blog isn't even a week old! Thank you so much to everyone who followed me, and especially Solos1s for the promo!
On the other hand, I should have Grant's guide up later today... and another thing. As I'm hatching Spinaraks out the butt, I was wondering if anyone wanted one. I know that they aren't really a 'rare' pokemon, but I have a lot. So, before I wonder trade them, let me know if you'd like one and I'll message you! (I have no idea what their IV's are, I restarted my game a while ago, so I'm still not at the point where I can check)

Kalos' Leader Guide - Viola/Santalune City
Alright! It's time for the first leader guide! Since I'll be starting with Kalos and going backwards, I figured I'd start with Viola, seeing as she's Kalos' first leader.
The Basics:
Viola is a bug-type leader, and her gym has the design of a spider web. This web can be used as path to get around the gym, although much of it cannot be used until you beat the necessary trainers.
The gym:
Type Analysis:
As mentioned before, Viola uses bug types for her gym. This leaves you with a few options to use against her bugs. Before we go over the pokemon you should use, let me remind you that bug type is weak to Fire, Flying, and Rock type. Bug is also effective against Grass, Psychic, and Dark type. Although only one of those is available to you this early in the game.
The pokemon that are effective and can be found for battling against Viola are:
Pidgey - Route 3 - Flying/Normal Type
Catch rate: Rare(Route 3),
Fletchling - Route 3/Santalune Forest - Flying/Normal Type
Catch rate: Average(Route 3), Rare(Santalune Forest)
Pansear - Santalune Forest - Fire Type
Catch rate: Rare(Santalune Forest)
Farfetch'd - Route 22 - Flying/Normal Type
Catch rate: Rare(Route 22)
Litleo - Route 22 - Fire/Normal Type
Catch rate: Average(Route 22)
Now that we've got the pokemon you can use covered, let's head on to the trainers in her gym.
One of Viola's types is a bug/water type, so if you plan on using fire, be wary of her surskit.
Gym Trainers:
When you enter Viola's gym, she has three other trainers in her gym that you must battle to make it to her. By battling these trainers, you unlock new pathways on the spider webs, and ultimately, the path that leads to her.
The two trainer classes she has in her gym are:
Youngster type(2)
Lass type(1)
They have pretty basic pokemon, but I'll list the teams below.
Trainers:
Youngster David -
Ledyba - Lvl 10 - No items
Youngster Zachary -
Spewpa - Lvl 10 - No items
Lass Charlotte -
Kakuna - Lvl 7 - No items
Combee - Lvl 9 - No items
After you've beaten these guys, you can continue on the path to where Viola stands.
Viola's Team:
Surskit - Lvl 10 - No items Moves: Quick Attack, Bubble, Water Sport Ability: Swift Swim
Vivillon - Lvl 12 - No items Moves: Harden, Infestation, Tackle Ability: Shield Dust
This concludes the first guide for Kalos' leaders! Please let me know if you like the format and think I should keep it or if you think I should scrap the whole thing. uvu

How to EV Train your Pokémon By TamashiiHiroka
Another guide by Tamashii, this time on EV training. I’m working on the first leader guide for Viola, so that should be up later today or early tomorrow.
-Mod T
I'm gonna start doing these things where I post guides for how to beat the gym leaders and what the best techniques/pokemon are to use. I'll be going from Kalos back, so please look out for those! I'll probably have the first one up today.

Competitive Pokémon Battling for Beginners: Getting Started by TamashiiHiroka
I couldn't find any Tumblr guides for competitive battle guides, so I posted a video I've seen before and enjoyed.
got tired of seeing a lot of people being made fun of and being insecure for not knowing a lot of the terminology and logic behind flawless pokemon and making pokemon competitive. tried my best to make a very simple guide so people can learn the basics about all these strange new words
any questions hit me up i’ll explain them as best as i can
For anyone interested in getting into competitive battling, I have found a really great guide to IV breeding to get that perfect Pokemon.
A beginner's guide to Masuda Method for shinies (or simply shiny breeding)
So, What’s shiny breeding or Masuda Method? Shiny breeding is one of the ways to obtain shiny pokémon. Usually, it’s the favorite method of expert breeders/trainers because it allows the breeder to carefully breed the stats (IVs) of shiny pokémon, although you’re not obligated to do this. It’s called Masuda Method because it’s named after Game Freak’s (the company that develops pokémon) Director Junichi Masuda. He was the person who programmed this.
How this method works? The Masuda Method consists in breeding two pokémon from different regions. This rises the chance of the resulting eggs hatching shiny pokémon.
What do I need? - A Pokémon with Flame Body or Magma Armor abilities (I recommend a Fletchinder/Talonflame since they can learn the move fly. You’ll soon understand why this move will be important); - A Pokémon from the species you want the shiny of. (In this guide I’ll use Magikarp); - A Ditto of a different region; - A lot of Patience
MAKE SURE THE PARENTS ARE FROM DIFFERENT REGIONS OF EACH OTHER!
Ex: Japanese Ditto + English Magikarp
How do I know I have a pokémon from a different region? Check if your pokémon has a little grey box on it’s summary with 3 letters meaning a region/language:
How do I do Masuda Method? GETTING YOUR EGGS 1- Go to the Pokémon Daycare; 2- Leave both the foreign Ditto and the Pokémon you want the shiny of; 3- Get your bike, ride through route 7; 4- Keep riding until the man dressing in green faces the road;
5- Talk to him and say YES to receive your egg; 6- Immediatly enter the Daycare and leave your egg in one of your PC boxes; (I’ll explain in a while why it’s important) 7- Repeat steps 3-6 until you fill the PC Box:
HATCHING YOUR EGGS (Here’s where Talonflame/Fletchinder will be useful) 1- Fly to Lumiose City Centrico Plaza (around Prism Tower); 2- Enter the Pokémon Center; 3- Leave every pokémon except your talonflame/fletchinder; 4- Get as many eggs as you can (5); 5- Go to Prism Tower Plaza; 6- Use your bike and ride around the tower;
7- When the eggs hatch, check if any baby is shiny; 8- If yes, congratulations! 9- If none of your eggs is shiny, get more eggs, rinse and repeat.
TIPS AND DETAILS! - Use a coin or small paper tabs or any other thin object to lock the circle pad of the 3DS in the position to ride around Prism Tower when hatching eggs, leave the 3DS and come back after 3-5 minutes. - Flame Body or Magma Armor abilities make the eggs hatch faster. I recommend Talonflame/Fletchinder because fly makes it easier to move around. CHECK IF YOUR BIRD HAS FLAME BODY (some have Gale Wings, a different ability that does NOT help you hatching eggs). - Placing the eggs in the PC and taking them all at the same time makes them hatch together. - You’re not restricted to Ditto, you can use a male from the same egg group as the female from the pokémon you want the shiny of, as long as the regions are mismatched. Dittos, however, make life really easier. - If you hatch a whole PC box of eggs, release/wonder trade the pokés before getting more eggs so you don’t overload your boxes with clones.
DON’T GIVE UP: YOU CAN GET YOUR SHINY AS SOON AS 20 EGGS OR AS LATE AS 200 OR EVEN 2,000 (looks like it’s a lot but you’ll realize you hatch eggs pretty quickly)
Happy Masuda Method-ing!
I hope this helps a lot of people confused about Masuda Method! Any other doubts, suggestions or just feeling like talking to me? Inbox me here!
P.S. I hope you get your shiny decepticondanceparty ;)
