Noticed for the first time today that Leon's Arc suit has the "free spirit" theme skill and checked to see yeah this is on all his Pokemas alts except for his battle tower suit. Which may be second to only Kieran's laid-back personality in sheer "what the fuck are you talking about"

Once again reminiscing on how badly they have fumbled the conclusion to Leon's story in every single version of the character when literally all they had to do was:

Not let him be champion anymore

Not let him be chairman

Like it was actually very easy.

And like!! I forever think having Leon be chairman is very interesting but as much as I have come around on SwSh's writing it's very clear to me that anything worthwhile I gleam from that ending was unintentional on the part of the writers. Rose's effectiveness as a villain completely hinges on the fact that the Galar League is a fundamentally broken system that gave him completely unchecked power and to have the story end with "okay Leon gets to be Rose now but he won't be evil about it because he's very polite :)" BROTHERRRR

If they were going to refuse to do anything compelling with Leon becoming chairman and just pretend the only problem with what a shitshow Galar was solely Rose as an individual they should have just let Leon fake his death and flee to another region. Would have been a more satisfying ending for the character.

SwSh's main selling point to me is that in a world populated by regions that present their settings as near utopian it's both shocking and deeply interesting just how fucked Galar is on a systemic level. Do nottttttt try to pretend Rose was the one hiccup keeping everything from "yay everybody gets to hold hands now 🥰" you're stripping away everything that made me want to sink my teeth into this story!!!! I knowwww to do anything truly worthwhile with Leon Is The Chairman And This Is Not Better as a plot point SwSh would require an actual postgame and honestly just need to be a very different game than pokemon games usually are but if you can't measure up to the intrigue you've built up in this concept then. Idk. Maybe just don't let Leon be the chairman at all. Again it's a very easy fix. It drives me up a wall how much this one stupid postgame detail makes the entire story so much worse!!
