I’ve heard that there are conventions for type specific trainers, is that true? If so, do gym leaders like yourself get special treatment there?

There are what I will charitably call type-based fan conventions. They're not league-organized, but they do like to host notable type trainers, like elite 4 members, gym leaders, and trial captains. I've really only been invited as part of a minor-league gym leader panel. I promise I'm not bitter about it.

Favalinks the War and Peas pokemon

Grass/Steel

Ability: Shell Armor (HA: Harvest)

Stats: Skewed towards defenses and HP, physical stats higher than special stats.

Moves: Harden, Vine Whip, Bullet Seed, Leech Seed, Smart Strike, Bulk Up, Rock Smash, Iron Defense, Seed Bomb, Iron Head, Gone Yellow*, Power Whip, Counter

Dex Entry: The lead member of the pod is called the "Despod" and it leads the troopers. While it thinks of itself as a brave commander, the despod mostly uses its power to force the troopers into servitude so that it can relax and avoid real danger.

*Gone Yellow is Favalinks' signature move. Favalinks returns to its trainer, leaving the pod behind to confer a defense boost on the incoming pokemon.

I'm in no way designing this right now, but it could get a mega evolution akin to Falinks', but with the despod head and trooper faces embedded in a body of vines and tendrils instead of just stacking into shape.
