Pokeshipping Week - E-Zine Edition!

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Pokeshipping E-Zine Vol. 2!

Hi folks!

It's that time again - time to start the ball rolling on the Pokeshipping E-Zine! We're excited to publish our second volume on November 7, Pokeshipping Day, but we need you to do it!

We will be accepting applications for artists and writers until July 15th (end of day). Accepted entries will have until October 15th to finalize their entries. We'll be checking in with you from time to time to make sure everything's going okay! From there, we'll assemble the zine, and the final product will go live on Pokeshipping Day. It'll be a free PDF available through the Pokeshipping and Pokeshipping Week Tumblrs.

Our theme for this year's zine is "On the Road Again". You are free to be creative and interpret this however you like, but please make sure that we'll be able to see how your submitted piece is related to the theme in some fashion.

All submissions should be kept to the PG/PG-13 range, as this will be an all-ages zine. You can age characters up, get romantic, be clever with implications, but keep things out of adult territory, please.

Rough submissions for the application should be in the form of: at least a rough sketch suggesting the final composition for art, and either a rough draft or outline for writing. 

Finished artwork should have a resolution of 300 DPI, and be sized at least for a US letter-sized page (8.5" x 11"). Finished stories have a word limit of 3,000 words.

All submissions should be standalone works done specifically for this zine, and not part of a series.

Submissions will be chosen by the staff of the Pokeshipping Discord based on adherence to these rules and our own judgement. Any refusals are not personal, and those submissions not chosen are more than welcome to be developed and shared elsewhere. If your submission is chosen, please refrain from publishing your piece elsewhere until after the zine has been released.

Version 1.1 of the Sparks on the Water zine has been released, with a couple of revisions made to included fanfics where things had gone slightly off the rails when they were imported to the publishing software. Our bad!

I’m sorry I disappeared in the middle, I won’t tell you how unpredictable and hard adult life can be, I’m sure you know it as well. And as it’s anyway better something late than nothing at all, here is some pokeshipping hugs for you! It was an old sketch but I suppose you don’t remember it. It is an illustration to my old and very long fanfic I still hope to finish and translate to English. But even not knowing the story I hope you will be able to enjoy it as a random pokeshipping moment. Pictures I planned for missed days I’ll post as soon as I’ll be able to finish them.

What If Ash didn't take Misty's Bike? - Pokeshipping Week Day 7

Ash couldn't believe his rotten luck. After he accidentally hit a Spearow on the head with a rock, a whole bunch of them were now after him. They were pretty mad that the first one was beaten. Ash was panting. This was not how he wanted to start his first day of being a Pokemon trainer.

A trainer yelled, "Staryu, Rapid Spin!"

"Hya!" Staryu said.

The Water type hit one of the Spearows that were near Pikachu's feet. Ash turned, seeing a girl there.

She then commanded, "Staryu, Water Gun!"

"Hya!" It said, firing the Water type move.

The Spearows were getting weak as it was starting to rain really hard now. The girl turned to Ash, as if expecting something.

Ash asked, "What?"

The girl answered, "We need help! We need a Thunderbolt!"

Ash looked down at Pikachu. It was exhausted but it did as it was told. It leaped from Ash's arms and fired the electric type move - just as the lightning hit it.

Karaoke - Pokeshipping Week Day 6

"This is the worst idea for a date, ever." Misty complained.

"Not my idea to be, like, totally fair." Daisy told her sister.

Misty groaned, "I know it was Tracey's idea to come here but he's made a really bad choice..."

Daisy admitted, "Yeah but like it should be over soon?"

Misty had eyed Ash and Tracey. Tracey had finished his bit and he wasn't really all that terrible. A little flat in some areas but he was pretty decent. A few people in the crowd gave him applause.

Tracey came over to Daisy and Misty as he asked, "Well, how'd I do?"

Daisy admitted, "You, like, have done better than a lot of these people."

Tracey blushed at his fiance, "Gee thanks."

Misty turned to Ash and asked, "Is he actually going to sing?"

Before Tracey could confirm, Ash was already at the mic. He started to sing the next song way off key. Misty cringed. Oh Arceus...why did she love him again?

Handkerchief - Pokeshipping Week Day 5

Misty was doing some spring cleaning. She was going crazy not doing anything. She was five months pregnant with her daughter. Pikachu was helping her with the lighter stuff.

Misty giggled, "Thanks Pikachu!"

"Pi pika!" Pikachu said, wagging its tail.

Misty saw Ash's backpack from when he was traveling with Goh.

She asked Pikachu, "Can you bring that over here, please?"

"Pika pika!" Pikachu agreed.

Pikachu grabbed the backpack and brought it over to her.

Misty smiled, "Thanks Pika Pal."

"Pi pika." Pikachu said, enjoying the pets.

Misty opened the backpack and could not believe her eyes.

No way. What this doing in here?

Misty pulled it out - it was her old handkerchief. It was beat up - it was torn but it was still in really good condition. Misty felt the tears in her eyes. She couldn't believe that he had kept it after all those years. She was so happy.

"Mist?"

Misty turned to him, "Ash...what's this doing in here?"

Ash answered, "Well, I used it as a good luck charm whenever I had a tough fight..."

"Pika pi chu." Pikachu confirmed.

Misty admitted, "I thought you had lost it..."

Ash stroked her cheek, "I would never lose something that meaningful."

"Pi pika chu." Pikachu said as it left the room for a minute.

Misty gave Ash a kiss - one that he happily returned. Pikachu stood outside of the room, smiling. It might have gotten old but it knew those two the best.
