if you're not keeping an eye on gaza because it's too much for you, i wanna summarize some stuff. the most important things to know right now:

1. Israel has pushed lies about the scale and nature of attacks against them. Biden LIED to the press about watching beheading videos; these videos don't exist. edit: i am referring specifically to beheaded infant videos

2. Israel has lied to Palestinian civilians in order to move them INTO active bombing zones

3. 50% of Palestinians are children

4. Israel has closed all routes into and out of Gaza, and no aid can come to civilians who have no access to water, food, electricity, or medical supplies. edit: as of 10/22, some aid is being allowed in. this does not negate the weeks where it was not allowed, nor the war crime of collective punishment. Hospitals continue to lose power.

5. Israel has full support from Biden's administration

6. Israel's leaders have stated publicly that they hold all Palestinians (including, EXPLICITLY, children) responsible for Hamas's actions. source 1, source 2

EDIT: 7. The UN has called for cease-fire, but the United States continues to veto. More aid cannot make it to those in need without a cease-fire

EDIT: 8. 10/27 Hamas has offered to release all civilian hostages if Israel stops air strikes. Israel refuses.

it is 12/12/23, here are some general updates

1. Israel has gone from denying they would bomb a hospital to openly bombing several of them. edit: they have also bombed ambulances

2. IDF has continued to close refugees into smaller and smaller spaces. The assault has moved to also encompass parts of the West Bank. It has been reported that nowhere is safe.

3. Members of the press who have spoken from the ground about their experiences in Gaza have been labeled Hamas operators by Israel. They are targets. Many have fled or signed off in order to focus on survival.

4. Aid into the area continues to be restricted by Israel, largely because Israel will not pause bombing long enough for aid to get in safely

5. Israeli leaders continue to insist that all citizens of Palestine are responsible

6. The Oct 7 attack that preceded this genocide has been under a great deal of scrutiny. Israel has admitted that they fired upon and killed several of their own civilians in the chaos. About a third of the listed names of the dead include IDF members - it's not clear if they were simply civilians in reserve (as all are required to sign up in adulthood) or active soldiers.

7. So far, hostages taken and returned by Hamas have said they were treated relatively well, except for starvation due to Israel's aid block. Israel has forbidden celebrations of the release of hostages that Israel had taken (they are calling them prisoners, accused of crimes; some of these releases were small children when they were taken).

8. There is a rough estimate of 18,000 Palestinian deaths, a large portion (more than a third) of them children. Over 100 aid workers have been killed, and 63 journalists. These numbers are certainly higher, given the number of missing people and the internet blackouts.

9. Biden has denied the accuracy of Palestinian death tolls, prompting the Gaza Health Ministry to publish a list of names. Entire family lineages have been erased. Human Rights Watch believes these numbers.

10. The US continues to openly veto UN calls for ceasefire. We are also providing weapons to Israel.

11. The US House has passed a resolution declaring anti-Zionism to be considered antisemitism. This makes any anti-genocide protests possible hate speech.

And to be clear, Hamas is a political party (with a military wing) operating ONLY in Gaza, not in the West Bank, and Israel controls travel between the two.

So when you see footage or news of attacks in the West Bank, that's nothing to do with Hamas.

Various Israeli settlers in the West Bank, Israeli real estate companies, and Israeli politicians are openly calling for Israel to officially take over more territory so Israeli businesses and settlers can use that land.

Protecting Yourself from Criminalization for Self-Managed Abortion — OARS

Self-managed abortion (SMA) with pills is very medically safe and effective throughout early pregnancy, but there is a significant risk of criminalization in many U.S. states. While it is impossible to fully eliminate the risk of criminalization when having or planning to have an abortion at home, t

Leave no online footprint of searches or purchases. Digital Defense Fund’s abortion privacy guide is your go-to resource for this. Using private browsers, two-factor authentication, encrypted messaging, strong passwords, etc. is critical. Google searches have been presented as evidence in an SMA trial before. Do not leave a digital trail.

Use the medications properly to prevent interactions with healthcare providers. The pills are very effective, but they have to be used right. Carefully follow the instructions provided on the How to Use Abortion Pill website. Note that misoprostol tablets should always be taken by dissolving them under the tongue. Do NOT insert misoprostol vaginally if you are self-managing an abortion. While this is medically safe, it can leave incriminating pill remnants that can be detected in the vagina during a pelvic exam if you end up needing to seek medical care. 

If it’s not an emergency but you need expert health advice, use a free calling service like Google Voice to call or text the Miscarriage + Abortion Hotline at 1-833-246-2632. Medical complications are very uncommon with abortion pills, but they’re not impossible. The M+A Hotline is safe to use and is staffed by trustworthy clinicians who volunteer their time to help those who choose SMA. Do not use your own phone number to call as this will create a record that is visible to your cell service provider. 

Don’t disclose any information about SMA to emergency room staff if you do need to seek medical care. This is how most people who are arrested for SMA are reported. Healthcare providers are almost always who calls the police in cases of SMA criminalization. Contrary to popular belief, HIPAA does not protect your private health information from being shared with police if you are suspected of doing something that could be considered a crime. If you believe you need to seek urgent medical care, do not hesitate to go. Say “I think I’m having a miscarriage” and provide your symptoms. Do not mention any use of or purchase of abortion pills. There is no widely available test to detect misoprostol in your bloodstream. If you do not disclose it, there is no way for a medical provider to tell the difference between a medication abortion and a spontaneous miscarriage.

Do not talk to the cops. Period. Do. Not. Talk. To. The. Cops. If you are questioned by police you should state, “I am exercising my right to remain silent, and I wish to speak with an attorney.” Do not speak again or nod in response to a question. Contact the Repro Legal Helpline as soon as possible for expert legal advice: 1-844-868-2812. Do not agree to questioning or speak to any law enforcement official without a lawyer present.

Also an urgent reminder that using a private browser does very little unless you’re also using a trusted proxy server or browsing from somewhere that is not linked to your name.

Your internet service provider records what sites you visit even in a private window. If the cops get your records from your ISP, that private browsing window does not hide anything.

Personally I’d use a private browsing window + a proxy from a McDonald’s wifi or similar, but I’m maybe more careful than many would be.

Corporations are making money this pride month being non-inclusive when it comes to most genders, and sexualities. It’s not a pride collection if all you have is the rainbow flag. The rainbow flag does not represent all of the lgbt+ community. There are many other flags and  symbols that can be used to created sick clothing, bags, accessories ext. there is slim to little chance you are going to walk into these stores in your local mall who advertise pride and see a shirt with the bi, pan, lesbian, ace, Demi, non binary, poly, gender fluid, etc flag. There are exceptions but the ration of stores advertising pride vs who actually have an inclusive pride collection is slim. in reality the companies are lazy, they do not care about being lgbt inclusive, and all they want is good pr, and a couple million dollars in their pocket . A bunch of little babies were murdered while watching a movie in school. Their parents are never Going to see them again, they were scared, in pain, children who can’t even see a pg 13 movie yet watched their friends die.
