1. If You had to pick ten {or less} songs to be the soundtrack for your life, what would it be?
I’m sorry I had to pick 11!!!
1 - Witchcraft by Frank Sinatra -- I recorded this in a little booth in Brooklyn at an amusement park when I was probably around 6 years old. My dad threw me in the booth, and told me to sing, and that’s what I sang!
2 - It’s A Beautiful Morning by The Rascals -- The first single I ever bought with my own money, the allowance from my parents. New York Rock!
3 - Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf -- another single I bought (I still have all of these too). I felt super cool, ‘come with me little girl...’ ok!
4 - Hey Jude by The Beatles -- I had read it was the longest single ever, so I ran to buy it the day it came out and I still remember listening to it with great excitement as I hadn’t heard it yet.
5 - For No One by The Beatles -- I relate to the lonliness and coldness of this song, from being hurt in love.
6 - Son Of A Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield -- I saw her sing this on TV and watching her I felt this great deep pang that I had to be a singer, it had a profound effect on me, how she performed it, and felt it. It hit me!
7 - Honky Tonk Women by The Rolling Stones -- I remember hearing it on the radio outside my small Brooklyn apt building when it first came out. Research confirms it was a Summer single. I thought, “that’s great”. You could hear that cowbell and the drums sounded great even on a transistor am device!
8 - Rock N Roll Suicide by David Bowie -- this is me as a teenager!
9 - Rocks Off by The Rolling Stones -- the Joie de Vivre of this record is so contagious, and it became the template for my life - forever.
10 - Memory Motel by The Rolling Stones -- I was 17, on Long Island, New York. I was a beginner guitar player. A Stones freak, and I ran an international fan club for Brian Jones. My best friend was the daughter of the VP from Atlantic Records, the 3rd guy under Ahmet & Jerry Wexler, and she used to call me Hannah after this song came out, till she died of a heroin overdose nearly 20 years later -- I was always Hannah to her because of this song after it came out. We got all our Stones records for free of course! I still have my copy of this album with the Promo sticker on it.
11 - Supersonic by Oasis - The lyrics, the music, it is the embodiment of my strength and attitude towards life. The first time I heard it made me feel rock n roll will never die
2. If You could have a special power, what would it be?
I do .. and I wish I didn’t! I think I wish I didn’t! I am quite used to it by now, maybe I’d miss it if it was gone.
3. If You could have a dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would You choose?
I am a knowledge seeker, so it should be someone of a higher mind like Rudolph Steiner, BUT we have the books and all that, so I will go the other way and choose someone who I think has a good vibe, so, Tom Jones! I think I’d love that!
4. If You could have one pet from the world of fantasy, what would it be?
Felix the Cat for his intelligence and bag of tricks.
5. If You could have one dead musician/actor/famous brought back to life, who would You choose?
Tom Petty. Though the Tom Petty from 1978 that I met when I was 19.
