Florida man arrested for attacking McDonald's employee over not getting a straw
Women and World War 2
Here's a hot take. The "women's liberation movement" in the fourties isn't all we think it is. Most the men were off at war so, of course, the only people companies could hire were women. Once men came back, most of the working women were fired and went to being the 'fifties housewife'. This shows that 1. Women were a last resort hire and 2. Women were not liberated by working in factories. They were still catering to men. Holding MENS' jobs. Building munitions for MEN in war. Working for MEN who owned the factories. Everything women did in the fourties was to cater to men. The only reason it's seen as a liberation is because the work was outside the house.
Were there serious feminist movements during this time period? Yes. But to think women's work in the factories was a liberation and progression is just plain wrong.
