Okay I’ve been reading a lot of shit about this topic on facebook and twitter. American Polys and NZ Polys fighting over the title of the Original Polynesian. Who got the Polyswagg. Who got the true nesian vibe, the clothing, the language, the lifestyle etc.. well fcuk you all!! Cos the real Polynesians, the originals with the real polyswagg are living on the islands!!. Yeah, totally understand…BUT, can y’all just appreciate famous people out there recognize how beautiful and amazing the trad. tatts are? though they may not know the history of ones culture etc… but still… and let me add, y’all should be furious and questioning why the tattooist proceeded to ink Riri and all non-polys w/tribal traditional tatts.. esp if the artist/tattooists are Polynesians themselves. In my opinion, it’s a blessing that non-polys get em tribal tatts inked on them, it shows how they appreciate and love ones culture. and. My bad, I was just speaking in general..oh forgive me if you found my post disrespectful.. CHUR BRO!
Let me add to that the tattooist was not polynesian hes maori i know the dude and the ink he gave her were samoan "scared tattoos" he was trained by a samoan tattooist to do this we value ALOT and that has always been the case with people these days famous people and whomever get them why should anyone care if she was or not ? I know what u mean with the whole appreciating the culture but all for the wrong reasons for all i know she doesn't even know what she got and what it means or whom its originated from the fact is the more our traditions leak out and people getting them is just another design for looks nothing more and the more people encourage others to get it we lose the values and traditions of our culture to things that have been passed down to us meaning in 20 years time aint nobody gona know what those are theyll just be tattoos then what and where will all that appreciation and love for out culture come in remembrance ? There wouldnt be because the identity and traditions aint there no more ! People should be know that its history and culture must be taught otherwise we just another clueless and ignorant generation of polynesian people that dont even know where they come from and what the history of there people are because just like that you would obviously have not roots nor connection of what bloodline you come from .

I was such a fia Palagi when i was little don't know why lol but my daddy always said Sina you can be whoever you want do whatever you want but at the end of the day your still a Samoan and ill still give a hiding LMAO " oh thanks dad lol " Many of us try and compare ourselves or do things that we usually wouldn't do and its sad at times cos we tend to forget what our parents have brought us up with some don't like the way samoans & other pacific Island nations discipline some don't like the way we live etc etc but you should never be someone your not ! You want to get along with people want them to accept you and appreciate you and all you can do is try and impress them , with what ? No use , what you should be doing is getting your family to where you want them to be accepting them for the people they are and appreciating the work they've done for you to get you where you are now and me personally am so thankful I've been brought up in Samoan life! I was born and raised in South Auckland and now residing in Aussie land and because i was not born in samoa does not make me a samoan we have been disciplined and taught respect gave our service to our families from early mornings till the sun was no longer shinning went to school with a goal to pursue a career in order to live a wealthy life and take care of our parents and tho in life we make mistakes we eventually learn as we grow and mature i am samoan ,we are samoan , our culture ,traditions and values are apart of our upbringing let nobody tell you who you are and who your not ! No matter where you were born samoa , New Zealand Australia , hawaii even the countries you think none of our people are born in ! If you have samoan blood running through your veins then show it well and be proud of who you are and where your family history lies within no matter where you are in the globe we all come from the same roots under the same tree Sina :)
