Mt. Shasta Dog Sledding on Christmas day.
:: Fading Memory ::
:: Downright Enchanted ::
:: The man who has many answers :: The man who has many answers is often found in the theaters of information where he offers, graciously his deep findings. While the man who has only questions, to comfort himself, makes music. - Mary Oliver -

:: Good Tidings :: A little over 2 years ago I left my life in Portland to attend grad school in Bend, Oregon. It was a big move, because it meant leaving behind a lovely life I had cultivated in a city that I loved. I left so many wonderful friends. I lost the great music and art scene, and I deeply miss all of the wonderful food! Yet I gained a more routine relationship with nature and serenity that I had been yearning for, for a long while. In June, I finished my graduate studies, and it became clear to me that I wanted to stay in Central Oregon if I could. It's not an easy task though, simply because jobs in my career field are few and far between here. Nonetheless, over the last 6 weeks I turned down some job opportunities elsewhere, deciding to take a risk to see if I could somehow find a job near Bend. Yesterday, my hopes came to fruition. I was offered a job that was beyond my expectations so early in my new career. When I went into the woods today, my spirit was in dance. Relieved that I finally found a job, and most grateful and excited that I actually get to continue calling this beautiful place, my home.
Idaho Sunset
Good days are filled with good moments.
Reflections, among the vast ripples in the sky. A new day gently awakes, while another present moment is born.

°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° "One day,' you said, 'I watched the sunset forty-three times!' And a little later you added: 'You know, when one is that sad, one can get to love the sunset.' 'Were you that sad, then, on the day of the forty-three sunset?' But the prince made no answer." Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° Friend of mine, forever let us travel high. To understand not only the how... but the why. On May 22nd my steadfast companion turned 12 years old. She may not be as fast or as energetic as she used to be, but she is still as soulful as she ever was. Going to cherish every last bit of time we get to share together in this world. Song credits: 'Harmonia' by Cass McCombs. A special thanks to my friend Christina @psychnursechristina for reminding me about this song and pointing out these specific and lovely lyrics.
The desert is far from deserted of things to catch one's eye.
John Muir once said, “The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness. ” I love this sentiment and I think of these words often when I am suddenly so small and of no consequence in the wild woods. I long for that feeling. It brings me peace.
"The wound is the place where the light enters you." - Rumi
So many blessed days, this heart doth roam, yet so many lonely eve, I yearn for a home.

The preciousness of life is a mysterious thing. It is so easy to get lost in the fleeting moments of the present, yet the weight of what we have, and what we have had, is so painfully obvious when we explore the past.
