reading "character read/react to the series" fics is kinda sisyphean for me bc so many authors have the characters double down on the things they messed up with or grew past in the actual media, which often ends up making the whole thing feel entirely out of character (and can miss the entire reasons the characters did those things)

but like. every now and then, they end up being reeeeally good, so i keep reading them

every character in a media that's been around long enough has fans that fixate on one character and forget other povs or start to lose their grip on canon awareness but ive never quite seen it get as bad as it does with the batfamily fans

like it makes sense bc canon has been reworked so many times and theres so much shit that is (rightfully) ignored, but some of y'all are forgetting key parts of characters 😭
