Lavender - the scent of lavender is often used in aromatherapy to treat depression and other mental illnesses associated with negative energies. The smell can be “relaxing and uplifting,” according to Witchipedia, meaning lavender oils, incense, tea, and other strongly scented things can be smelled to help calm down from panic attacks. Try keeping a bottle of lavender oil on you if you have frequent panic attacks or flashbacks in public. You can also use lavender in your baking to make treats to eat when you’re not doing well.
Shells - seashells, snail shells, and nut shells all are intended for one purpose in nature - protection. Shells do a good job in protecting you from bad memories and intentions. Clam shells can be painted or carved into in order to make powerful protective talismans. Snail shells or stronger nut shells can be strung up and hung around your bedroom to protect you from nightmares while you sleep. Softer nut shells can be ground up into a powder using a coffee grinder and used alongside salt in protection spells.
Citrus - lemon, orange, and grapefruit oils are great for healing. Use these oils to anoint candles, and burn the candles whenever you are plagued by flashbacks or nightmares. This is one I actually use a lot. I have a yellow candle and a green candle for protection and healing respectively, and when I feel as if I’m being watched or searched for by my abuser, burning the yellow candle anointed with lemon and grapefruit oils fills my room with protective energy, not only protecting me, but reminding me that I am safe and far away from my abuser. Working citrus into your everyday cooking will also help you to feel safer all the time.
Sage - if you feel as if the one who caused you your trauma is watching, burning sage will help alleviate that feeling and protect you from any prying eyes. You can also add some sage to your tea leaves to help protect you from the negative energies which can collect inside of you and bring about flashbacks and panic episodes.
