PFC Presents: TOP 5 EPS/SPLITS OF 2014
1. Creeper - Self Titled (Bandcamp / Palm Reader Records)
It should come as no surprise that we absolutely love it - it's Alkaline Trio worship from members of Our Time Down Here and Hang The Bastard. It's a rarity that a band will release a debut as strong as this and manage to provide a live show that does it justice but the years of experience gained from their previous bands means that Creeper have truly hit the ground running. Expect massive things in 2015.

2. DEAD - Tu Me Manques (Rock Sound Stream / Shop)
I know, I know, it's poppy as fuck but if that's a problem, bite me. A lot of people could complain that DEAD are a band for teenagers but to be honest, I know that I'd be stoked for them if I was 15/16 in the same way that we all binged on My Chemical Romance and The Used back in high school. Take those bands, throw in a bit of Letlive worship and package it for a younger generation and you have DEAD.
3. Old Gray / Tiny Moving Parts - Split (Bandcamp / Dog Knights Productions)
Long term followers of PFC may remember that both Old Gray - An Autobiography and Tiny Moving Parts - This Couch... both made it into my top 5 albums of 2013 so when the recently relocated Dog Knights Productions announced the two bands would be sharing a single disk of 7" wax then I knew that I'd be into it. Tiny Moving Parts side offers a look into the slightly more cohesive sound of their follow up album Pleasant Living, but it's Old Gray's two songs that really won me over or, more specifically, An Epitaph. It's essentially everything I want from a Broken World Media-esque emo/skramz track. Flawless.

4. Sisterwives - The Pact (Bandcamp)
I'm surprised that this one managed to slip under the collective radar considering the reaction Cerce got when they announced their rather abrupt split. Whilst the rest of the band went on to pedal their brand of Ceremony-esque hardcore under the name Lovechild, Becca Cadalzo laid low for a little while before forming an altogether more fun band under the name of Sisterwives. Dubbing themselves 'periodcore', The Pact contains four songs coming in at 4min20, tackling subjects such as suger cravings, periods, dying your pubic hair pink and satanic girlscouts. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Lovechild, but they just don't put a smile on your face like Sisterwives do.

5. Citycop - Loner (Bandcamp / Flannel Gurl Records)
I'll be honest, I'd kind of forgotten about Citycop after helping Karl (Animal Defence Records) with the cassette re-release of 2011's fantastic EP Seasons so I was pleasantly surprised when a full EP stream for Loner appeared on my facebook stream. Given the influx of emo/skramz revival influenced bands over the last couple of years it's comforting to know that Citycop still manage to sound so unique. If you enjoyed the flamenco-esque guitar work featured on Seasons and Eddie Gancos gruff vocals than you're really going to enjoy Loner.
