Visual Lesson Plans
Here are some tools I’m developing for visualizing how learning tasks are represented in a lesson plan:
Google Docs with Tree Maps
As you adjust the values in a spreadsheet, Google adjusts the relative sizes of the regions representing them. I got this idea from this chart by Russell Mumper visualizing the structure and flow of flipped learning in his class.
See this Google spreadsheet. Make a copy in Google Docs, tweak the values, and see the results.
Lesson Plan Region Generator
Enter numerical values (representing minutes or percentages) and see a graph visualizing the portion of a lesson devoted to each task.
See this live demo. On my wish list is to enable users to enter their own links and assignment instructions, and to embed the result in a Learning Management System. For just the region generator can be edited. Enter your own values or click "Try Example" and click "Go."
Static Templates
See these templates. Make copies in Google Docs and edit as needed.
