I've gotten lot of asks about if I'm going to incorporate aspects of the finale into open world. the answer is yes because, well, its canon now!
more specifically, im gonna be incorporating jax's backstory (including the stuff with ribbit and kaufmo), the digital clone reveal (i actually originally wanted to have that anyway but held off just in case shsjs)
The biggest difference is gonna be that jax is still alive, and that the circus members are- as of right now in the AU- unaware that they are digital copies.
I also want to explore jax's relationship w gender more. I'm going to keep using he/him pronouns (for now) because he is still closeted in the AU. Later on I think things will become more... fluid, as he grows as a person and learns to accept himself
I originally came up with this AU because I knew I was not going to fully get a hopeful ending, and although it ended up a lot closer to canon than I expected, it came at a very high cost. I want this AU to continue to be a space where we can explore a happier end. Because although I understand what the message of the ending was trying to convey and I can't say for sure if it would have the same impact if EVERYTHING was happy at the end, I see how much it hurts yall to try and accept this ending and it hurts me too. maybe that hurt is part of the point. im not sure. but it doesn't mean we can't keep making the stories we want to see with them ourselves. if you miss jax, i encourage you to bring him back through your innate creativity. it doesn't have to end here if you don't want it to
