post idea i had a week ago but didnt have the time to act on

i think i have cubital tunnel syndrome or something, so last week when I aggravated it really badly, I couldn't type for extended periods without it upsetting my pinky and ring finger. So, when I was making flash cards for chemistry, I dictated them into the software with voice-to-text.

this had some generally funny results, but my personal favorite was when the question

"What types of chemical bonds can acetylide readily attack?"

became:

"load-bearing" IS A FUCKING LLM STOCK PHRASE NOW?

i love using that phrase and now i will never use it again to avoid [the anxiety that there will be] ai accusations against my writing

it's bad enough that i've unconsciously absorbed too much of the existing llmspeak into my own vocabulary, which is pretty damn gross. now it's just taking terms i already used

that and the semicolon; that one pisses me off a lot.

okay that was a pretty bad joke but the point is i fucking hate the future

i feel like i should be strategically using the queue to disguise how awful my sleep schedule has become but i think you all understand

i feel like i can never write (fan)fiction because ive unwillingly ingested so much ai slop over the years that the tells and structures of it will just naturally appear in my writing

anything i write is unfortunately just as much the property of my subconscious mind as my conscious mind

update on my thesis:

the manuscript is written, but earlier this afternoon, my second reader identified a major error in how I was generating samples

meaning I have to run my whole pipeline again with worse statistics than before on my slow ass PC because I never asked for cluster access

And, not only do I have to rewrite large parts of the manuscript again, but more importantly, I have to have the new analysis done by tomorrow night so I can get a poster submitted on time.
