2017 Hers and Hers Temp Scar - final edition
I really enjoyed making this temperature project (for the most part). My daily high and daily low scarfs were a labour of love but not very practical.
It’s not our style to wear a scarf just over 12 feet long. I did want to finish the project as I started it and had some photos taken to commemorate the pieces.
I decided a while ago I would improvise, adapt and overcome and instead create a ‘just for me’ tempghan! The problem was how to join it? I tried firstly just sewing the pieces together but hated it. I then crocheted a black border around it but hated it. Then I tried using different colours with a c2c technique but hated it too. I finally decided I would try just a dc strip and dug that. So I used the yearly averages to seperate and trim the blanket and this is what I came up with.
I joined them with a simple mattress seam stitch. I don’t normally block items but I think this throw is that exception so, there’s still a little work on this project for me! But I’m pretty happy with the end result. Now me and my pupper can really enjoy the 2017 temp scarf/ghan while I create a 2018 tempghan for my better half.
Fantastic @canadianmomcrochets !! What a wonderful journey of determination to swing this project to your satisfaction! Total inspiration! ❤🤗

#NAKNICROMO DAY 31 Finished final project for the month. So this is my final project. My youngest nephew is expecting in September and last week, before we found out it’s a boy, I decided to make a baby blanket!! I had this wonderful bonbon print by Red Heart and I just finished at 11:30 last night!! I’m now waiting on more yarn to come in as it took 2-10oz. skeins!! I didn’t have enough to make a little hoodie on the corner so they can swaddle the baby! Thank goodness I could order online as my local supply has NOT been restocked!! Ugh!! Never would I have believed it’d take so much yarn!! It turned out better than I even imagined at 35”x35”. Thank you to Lion Brand for the pattern inspiration! I ended up changing the stitch count a bit but you’d never know it to look at it!! I’m such a happy Great Aunt that I can make something beautiful and filled with love! Here’s the pattern that I used: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sweet-baby-afghan-2

So has anyone ever noticed that Cadbury Creme Eggs have a full fledged Fëanorian star on them?
For it is said that Fëanor began a long and secret labour, and he summoned all his lore, and his power, and his subtle skill; and at the end of all he made the Creme Eggs. As great jewels they were in form. Like orbs of richest chocolate they appeared, yet they were tastier than all others, so that no mortal could disparage or refuse them within the Kingdom of Arda. Yet that chocolate was to the Creme Eggs but as is the body to the Children of Ilúvatar: the house of its inner fire, that is within it and yet in all parts of it, and is its life. And the inner fire of the Creme Eggs Fëanor made of the blended fondant of the Sugar Canes of Valinor, whose glucose lives in them yet, though the Sugar Canes have long withered. All who dwelt in Aman were filled with wonder and delight at the work of Fëanor. - The Silmarillion, Cadbury™ Ed. 2015.
I finally made it up to Sydney to see my shawl at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. It was really great seeing it displayed for the masses to see. A few ladies were looking at the knitting at the same time I was there so I got to tell them “Yes! That one’s mine!” Mine is the one with the white ribbon on top. I got third!

My first crocheted character from a book! This is Nancy, from @seananmcguire Every Heart a Doorway. My copy is currently lent out to a friend, so I took her description from the wiki. White tank top, black jeans, a pomegranate red ribbon in her hair (well, it’s yarn, but when I find ribbon it will be ribbon), light blue eyes, and bone-white hair with five black streaks on one side. I have the perfect yarn for Cora’s hair (she’s from Beneath the Sugar Sky), but I had to make Nancy first, because as an ace girl it made me so happy to have a character says she’s asexual.
Gasp.
GASP.
Oh my gosh she is GORGEOUS and if you decide you’re going to start selling tiny crochet people, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
I’m so glad you like her! I’d be happy to sell tiny crochet people, or pretty much anything I’ve made before except maybe the dragons. I’m all caught up on commissions right now, so just message me if you’d like me to make you one
Thank you so much for all the representation you include in your books! I’m thinking of making mini-Nancy a mini ace pride scarf
