I dunno if many people are still on Tumblr but I'm trying to find/join discords to make friends, talk to new people, play cozy games... little bit of everything.

At a recent job interview I was asked what Trauma meant to me.
To me, trauma is something you quite literally never come back from. You will never be the person you were prior to your trauma.
And I think that's where a lot of people fall short in their recovery. They're searching for someone they don't even know anymore. Grasping at attributes they think connect and personality traits that others reference.
Post trauma is a great time to become who you WANT to be. Is it hard? Absolutely.
In my trauma recovery one of the biggest issues I found was my lack of control. I hurt myself because I had no control over my situation. I starved myself because I had no control in my abusive relationship. Control is important and necessary. Finding control is how you re-invent yourself might be a key to resolving trauma.

Dear kids: sometimes, self-care is ridiculously unsexy. It's cleaning your filthy bathroom after weeks of ignoring it. It's washing your bedsheets and vacuuming your floors. It's forcing yourself to take a shower and brush your teeth. When that temporary motivation strikes, RIDE THAT WAVE as far as you possibly can. It's the kindest thing you can do for yourself sometimes.
