Bill Maher getting his ass handed to him on Islam is making the rounds again today. (x)
The whole exchange is part of a larger segment about Benghazi from May of last year, but The Guardian’s Glenn Greenwald from really lays it out in black and white. Given the situation in Gaza, I can see why this clip has had a boost in popularity.
Glenn: Lots of religions — not just Islam — produce violence.
Bill: That’s a silly, liberal view that all religions are alike because it makes you feel good.
Glenn: No it makes you feel good to say our side is better because those people over there are —
Bill: No it makes you feel good to put a crown on your head and say, “I’m a good person. How do I prove that — “
Glenn: You get to ignore the responsibility that your own government has for the violence and instability in the world by saying, “Look. It’s that primitive religion over there that’s to blame.”
This tea is just so flavorful and full of truth.
This clip never gets old.
Oh my haws u hate bill maher, thank you.
“Theocracy doesn’t happen here”
LOLOLOLLL. How many laws have there been made in the US that are based on Judeo-Christian biases? What is the official motto of the US? Why is it that every president so far has been Christian and not being Christian automatically decreases your chances to be president?
Open your effing eyes.
Justice is soooooooooo sweet
You really are a despicable thick prick, aren't you? Tell me,if someone has left their faith, does that mean they are removed from it 100%? OR are you too myopic to realize that they are still apart of their damn families lives, friends, and the greater community in general? They are identified and even targeted (if ever speaking/coming out) due to their Islamic names, racial identification, and even language/ accents. FFS you always want an explanation as to something so bloody simple to accept
Looooool.
Ex-Muslims who have left the Islamic faith- fine.
Ex-Muslims who leave the Islamic faith and then use this antithetic identity to paint their narrative as some kind of fantastic enlightenment journey to a “intelligently liberal” and “free” life is a completely trash concept. So is having the nerve to turn around and speak FOR and ABOVE Muslims, demand change from the Islamic faith, generalize Muslims and their faith to a few boiled down misconceptions that neatly serve Western left-wing and right-wing Otherness of Islam and Muslims.
I swear native informants are complete garbage.
People like Sarah Haider, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and Taslima Nasreen have no right to demand change from a community from which they formally left. If they still have attachments and face discrimination for leaving Islam then why are they demanding reformist Islam, why are they being paid by right-wing and left-wing personalities to write books and make TV appearances to tout Islamophobic ideas and reduce Islam to a few convenient notions?
They don’t have any special insight on Islam just because they have been “liberated” from the “shackles of Islam” and are glad to be associated with the “free and open West.” They’re trying to use their agency to speak for and above an entire group of people who AREN’T heard or whose voices ARE ignored.
Wanna deal with Muslims treating ex-Muslims better? Focus on that. Focus on speaking WITH Muslims and the Muslim community about the issue and using Islamic texts and resources to stop the clash, or try to do better. Don’t fuck around and start pandering to Western hysteria about an entire religion and its people.
We ALL know Sarah Haider, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and whoever else are just native informants looking to join the lucrative business of white men and women needing brown women to back them up in some fucked up feminist and neoliberal imperialist attempt to justify ignorance and hatred towards Islam.
really though. tell me anything that’s more humbling than putting your face to the ground in complete submission to acknowledge how incapable you are without the mercy of your creator.
Ya Allah please help me.
How to make the most of Ramadan
Ramadan is really a blessed month, treat it like a beloved visitor, it only comes once a year. Have a sense of urgency, this could be your last Ramadan you will ever live.
Pre Ramadan
Mentally & spiritually prepare yourself
Prepare a set of lectures and videos to watch
Tide up and reorganize
menu planning
Stock up on major groceries
Set goals and equip yourself
Calculate & set aside your zakat & sadaqah
Eid: Get all your stuff related to eid now. do not go eid shopping during the last days. I cannot emphasize this enough. Those are the most important days of Ramadan
During Ramadan
Taqwa: Not only does Ramadan forces us to become a better person, but it also caused us to adopt taqwa. Remember that taqwa is being conscious of Allah(swt). It is a shield which protects you from the punishment of the Hellfire. Adopt Taqwa by being careful with the heart, tongue, eyes & ears.
Lose all feelings of hatred, jealousy, and other ill feelings towards people.
Do not become angry. If you feel as if an argument is about to start simply say, “I am fasting" and leave it at that.
Be wary of what you watch. Lower your gaze, refrain from watching stuff that are even the slightest inappropriate.
Do not speak or listen to ill speech, do not listen to music. Backbiting and yelling at others should not be done.
If you ever feel as if it is becoming to difficult to do any of these things, make duaa!
Suhoor & iftaar: Allah blesses the one who eats suhoor. Do not sleep through it, even if you ate a lot during iftaar. The best of foods to eat are dates!
Duaa: Make a lot of duaa. Throughout the day make sure to make small dhikr. “subanallah, allhamdulilah, allahu Akbar" are some examples. During the last 10 minutes before you break your fast should be the time when you make the most duaa.
Quran: The month of Ramadan is when the Quran was sent down! The connection between you and the Quran should be strong. Recite it everyday and set a goal. Try to have a certain amount memorized everyday. Study the meaning and reflect on it.
Salaah: Focus on three things during this month
1) Improvement: Learn different Du’aas to read in prayer.
2) Pray sunnah: Pray every single sunnah.
3) Taraweeh: Pray every night at the masjid.
Charity: Race in good deeds! Give it willingly and not for the sake of it. Fasting should make you more empathetic; think of all the people that constantly have to live in that state of hunger!
Self analysis: Every night before you sleep ask yourself what you did and did not do, and how can you improve.
Post Ramadan
Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Whosoever reaches the month of Ramadhan and does not have his sins forgiven, and so enters the Fire, then may Allah distance him.” [Sahih: Ahmad (2/246)]
This hadith shows the importance of worship in ramadan. Dont be the guy who just fasts and carries on with their daily life.
Everything related to the deen, after Ramadan should improve drastically. Try and take what you learn and make it a habit. InshAllah we all become better Muslims this Ramadan, and Allah forgives all our sins. Ameen.

Ramadan in Somalia
“My son made his mother cry, but saved hundreds of mothers from crying for their children,” Mujahid Ali, Aitzaz’s father is quoted as saying.
Every second pakistani is an unsung hero. This seventeen year old school boy, got late for school assembly. When he saw an usual person leaping towards his school. First he shouted to stop, then he grabbed a stone and it missed him. Aitzaz ran towards him grabbed him, and right then the suicide bomber exploded. Aitzaz was martyred but saved lives of 300 school students and teachers.
It’s the first Martyrdom Anniversary of Shaheed Aitzaz Hassan. Aitzaz saved his school from a brutal and tragic attack, much like the one which happened in Peshawar by sacrificing his own Life.
Proud of you my dear fellow. Proud of the brave kids of Pakistan. What a hero, lost. May Allah bless his soul.

Are you Sunnah or She'a ? If you just recently became a Muslim, plz read more to know the truth and to think logically

The elderly lady in the picture is Umm as-Sa’ad. She was born 1925 and memorised the Quran at the age of 15. By the age of 25 she had the shortest chains of recitation (Ijzazh) to the Prophet sallaAllaahu ‘Alaihi wasSalam in the 10 modes of recitation. She is a PIVOTAL point in Quranic instruction in Egypt and Alexandria in particular. From AbdulBasit abdulSamad to Mishary al-Afaasi…all have recited the Quran upon her seeking approval to teach and recite. Allah have mercy on her, she recently past away at close to 90 years old. May Allah reward her for her service to the Quran. Since 1950 she has taught and licensed in memorization of the quran over 100,000 students. اللهم إغفر لها وارحمها وأدخلها فسيح جناتك Note: "Umm as-Saa’d, married one of her students. She was not blessed with any children through her nearly 50 years of marriage. She would say, "Allah barred me from children and their responsibility, so that I can teach his Word to the children of others. لم أدرس علمًا أو أسمع درسًا أو أحفظ شيئًا غير القرآن الكريم ومتونه في علوم القراءات "I feel that my memorization of the Quran is as complete has my knowledge of my own name. I cannot imagine that I can forget a single letter from it or even make a single mistake in its reading from memory. I do not know anything else in life like I do the Quran and its modes of recitation. I did not master any other Science or attend lectures or commit anything to memory except the Noble Quran, the texts related to its modes of recitation."
