Gratitude is a lens not a feeling

#There’s a lot of heartbreak in aging in that you lose a lot of innocent beliefs that are just simply untrue #I use to have this belief that growth involves never experiencing certain emotions/phases again but that’s not the case #Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective) life is very cyclic #You shouldn’t think that when you grow you won’t experience what you are dealing with ever again #in fact it will be tougher with higher stakes #The only difference is that you have more tools and experience to pull from to handle it #For me I always thought the older I get I won’t experience uncertainty again (I hate anything that’s not black and white)#And that when I become an adult I would know who I am and what I am doing and what is going to happen next #To an extend that’s true #But Uncertainty #Feeling lost #Starting over #these are all experiences that are not isolated to youth #So now even though I’ve grown in my craft #I have a studio space #and bigger bookings than before #I’ve aged physically #I still experience uncertainty / I feel like I lost everything #and I have moments where I feel like i don’t have anything #I start to think maybe this dream isn’t written for me #and it just takes me back to my younger self and I hate it soooo much #it felt like I was stuck / kept getting pulled back #I just have to accept emotions are not isolated to youth #Some doors will be closed #I will continue to get no’s #Sometimes I won’t know which way to go #And it’s not that you are experiencing the same thing over and over but you are experiencing an emotion attached to the experience #A very normal emotion that is apart of this life just as joy is #And you can work on your relationship with this emotion through reflection and inner work
