━ regarding uma’s hair. as an african american girl , i wanted to address this in an educational manner → ❝  box braids are a braiding style often achieved with synthetic hair additions. The name is derived in part from the “box” or square-shaped partings for each braid, although parting variations aren’t uncommon. they are individual plaits that are usually divided by small squared off parts or boxes. box braids may be of any width or length, but most women add synthetic or natural hair to the braid for length as well as thickness and fullness. it’s a type of protective style for black women hair. ❞ another style include triangular box braids. this means the parting of the hair is in the shape of triangles. same braiding techique.

It’s been a long two weeks, but the nurse has officially checked back in from vacation, and is ready for the new school year (as well as the upcoming addition to fandom canon)! The roster’s been updated as of right now, though we’re always accepting new additions to our indie masterlist. I’ll be here, checking up on supplies and dispensing the handful of new confessions if you need me~

「☩」    HEADCANON FOR… THE HALLOWS;

Spanning from the Forbidden Mountains to the Enchanted Woods lay a large expanse of isles and marshes that feed into the rivers of other kingdoms beyond. For generations, all have referred to this place as The Hallows, dubbed after the mystical waters that the Fair Folk have regarded as the source of life, of magic, of powers that cannot be explained, yet.

To the west, under the shadow of what ruins remain of the Forbidden Fortress at the highest peak of the mountains there, lay the Moors. Though most infamously known as the birthplace of the most wicked faerie in existence, the people living there have spent many years trying to overcome the prejudices of being stereotyped as purely evil Folk, though many of its residents still dabble with dark magic and are rather proud of such. This is where the current King of the Hallows, Samael Morton (and son of Maleficent, surprisingly enough since he grew into a light faerie), still resides despite having a place in the Faerie Court’s castle, in a humble cabin by a stream.

To the south of the kingdom yet along the northern edge of the Enchanted Lake, rarely seen by mortal eyes but forever renown, is the Isle of Avalon. It’s mainly populated by fruit-bearing trees and shrubs, as well as stone circles that mark a distant era when its people made a living off ritual-based magic. The few faeries remaining here call the wild orchards sacred, most especially if they grow apples as they’re revered as the fruits of knowledge. It’s rumored that a) Merlin still lays asleep, forever imprisoned under the roots of the largest apple tree, and b) one can find the source of the four seasons here if they lay awake and follow the lights…

At the very heart of The Hallows, thinly veiled by the waterfall of the tallest island and built into the rock at the base of the mountain, is Caisleán Eas, the home of the Faerie Court – made up of five Seelie Folk (highly ranked faeries with morally good renown) and five Unseelie Folk (highly ranked faeries with morally evil renown), with a separate figure to at their head that could be of either allegiance. At the top of the rocky outcrop lays a small temple that’s protected by these leaders as it holds the mysterious origin of all the waters in the form of a spring as clear and blue as aquamarines.
