Unbreakable biometric security scans blood vessels
Researchers say they have developed an almost unbreakable biometric security that can not be fooled. The biometric system using thermal cameras to "read" the blood vessels under the skin, and to identify means of a specific algorithm people. The pattern of blood vessels under the face should be as unique as the fingerprints and the iris. "Forget fingerprints time clocks or iris recognition, the next revolution in biometrics scanning the heat that brings the blood patterns identified under the skin of your face, for direct face to deceive almost impossible," said the researchers.
Unmasked
The blood vessels would easily be recognized through an infrared thermal camera. "Rubber fingerprints can be used to simulate one print, while contact lenses are designed to spoof someone's iris so that a cheater can bypass biometric security", say the researchers. They note that it is almost impossible to make a realistic mask which also simulates the pattern of the blood vessels. "How well the mask, the thermal camera can see the blood patterns on the skin of the deceiver, which would be unmasked so. Figuratively speaking."The algorithm that the researchers checked the blood vessel pattern would have an accuracy of 97% and thus also for heavier security applications are suitable, as long as it is combined with a second or third party authentication, such as a photo ID, access card or PIN.
