Root River Ballpark
After a decade and half of living in Seattle, Italy, and England, I recently moved back to my hometown of Racine, Wisconsin. I love Racine, but my hometown has fallen upon hard times. Like many Rustbelt cities manufacturing moved out years ago and today unemployment is high. The thing about Racine is it’s a really nice place; scenic, friendly, historic, right on Lake Michigan, and near two major metro areas without being swallowed by either. I want to help Racine and here is my idea to enliven our charming town: build a scenic baseball field along the banks of the Root River. This could be used to lure a Northwoods League team to Racine as well as create opportunities for local youths to learn the game and excel.
Site Plan: tear down an abandoned warehouse and build a ballpark along the river bank.
Home runs hit over the center field wall would splash in the Root River ala AT&T Park in San Francisco.
Ballpark would seat roughly 3000-5000 with scenic sight lines of the riverbank and wooded hillside.
Building the ballpark would double as a pretext to revitalize the area by adding public river access and pathway along the river.
With proper funding an urban youth baseball academy or the Racine Baseball Cooperative could move in to the former church adjacent to property.
My goal is to create a “neighborhood ballpark” where most fans can walk, cycle, or take transit to games ala Wrigley Field.
Ballpark would have a catchment area of over 100,000 residents.
All I need is $4,000,000...
After I first traveled outside the US in January of 2000 I vowed to leave the country once a year for the rest of my life. So far so good, here are my travels:
On the Road: Travels of Two Hondas
I love a good road trip, who doesn't? These maps show the travels of my two beloved Hondas. From July 2003 to August 2011 I drove a 2003 Honda Accord LX. During those years I drove her (the Accord) from my homes in West Lafayette IN, Racine WI, and Seattle WA all over the country. Sadly she was stolen and destroyed after 120,000+ happy miles. Honda Accord Highlights: - Spring Break 2004: West Lafayette to Ft. Meyers and Miami, FL. - 2004 Summer in DC: Move from Racine to DC and back. - Baseball Trip 2005: Racine to Cincinnati to DC to Philly and back. - Move to Seattle, November 2005: Racine to Seattle via Madison, Minneapolis, Billings, and Spokane. - OC Journey, 2007: Seattle to Anaheim along the Hwy. 1. - Move back to Wisconsin, 2009: Seattle to Racine via Santa Cruz, Las Vegas, Moab, and Ft. Collins, CO. - Katie's Colorado Wedding, 2010: Racine to the Colorado Rockies and back via Ft. Collins and Rapid City, SD. - Move to Seattle with Sara, 2011: Racine to Seattle via KC, Denver, Santa Fe, Sedona, LA, Monterey, and Eugene.
Interactive Full Screen Map - Honda Accord In January of 2012 we purchased a 2012 Honda Fit. Sara, Olive, and I drove her (the Fit) around the Northwest and beyond until selling her in January 2015 when we moved to England. 2012 Honda Fit Highlights: - 4th of July in Racine, 2012: Seattle to Racine and back via US Hwy. 2 (The High Line) eastbound and Yellowstone NP westbound. - Spiritual Journey Through the West, 2013: Finding solace on the road from Seattle to Lake Tahoe, Venice Beach, Escondido, Grand Canyon NP, and Sacramento.

Queen Anne Walks
A year’s worth of walks around Queen Anne from our Seattle apartment. Tracks were taken using my phone between January 2014 and January 2015 (when I remembered to turn on tracking). Follow this link for an interactive map.

Baseball Trips: 2002-2014
Every summer since 2002 a combination of Neil, Gino, Trey, Dyer, Kevbo, and myself have driven around the country to attend baseball games. In total a group of 3 to 6 of us have attended ballgames at 41 ballparks in 22 states/provinces. Follow this link for an interactive map.
