Some design sketches for @posttenebras gargoyle creature, Malachai. Trying to get myself out of this drawing slump I’m in, and drawing monsters is always a good way of getting the ball rolling. 

His look is based on a combination of the Notre Dame grotesques and the Disney’s series that I still have not accepted ended 20 years ago. I actually messed up with his horns - he’s supposed to have six, three short ones on each side of his head, but upon doing a version with those, we both agreed it looked weird and a bit too derivative of the show. 

He’s actually a sort of golem, created by a witch who apparently deemed it necessary to have anatomically-correct protectors around. I ain’t judgin’.
