As of July 1, a critical surveillance program is monitoring for only two pathogens instead of the usual eight.

this time last year, FoodNet, a federal-state partnership between the CDC, FDA, USDA, and 10 state health departments, downgraded the tracking of cyclospora (along with 5 other pathogens!) to optional rather than mandatory.

this was due to trump's budget cuts and there was no public announcement that all these pathogens were no longer being actively tracked. now nobody can eat greens for fear of shitting themselves for weeks on end. thank you trump <3
