“You know I don’t mind if you watch me cook.” Nasus replied as he grabbed enough food to make just Sona a plate. “I know you enjoy watching me cook. You eat with your eyes as much as you do proper.” He turned and gave her a smile before returning his attention to the stove.
With a pair of skillets heating on the stove, Nasus added a bit of oil to one and butter to the other.. Meanwhile he turned his attention to the somewhat small strip steak. He tenderized the meat with measured force before seasoning it with a traditional Shuriman rub that could’ve been lost to the ages if not for the books he wrote on his homeland shortly after its demise.
Once it was in the skillet Nasus washed his hands before cooking the meal to a medium-well, using the lip around the the skillet to cook some of the edges evenly with the bulk of the meat. Between shifts of the meat he’d prep the other skillet. He brought the meat to rest upon a separate plate before washing his hands.
With his hands sanitized after touching the meat a second time, the Jackal moved to finish what he’d started. Earlier he’d gotten Asparagus ready and cooking so it could finish as the meat finished resting. His estimations were little off though as the vegetable was early by a minute.
When the food was all done the Jackal served the food together on a plate alongside all the utensils Sona would need. Nasus then pulled out her chair before bringing her off the counter and carrying her to her seat.
“Dinner is served.” He made a grand bow. It was a bit silly and unlike him, but Nasus did it to make her smile.
🎼Oh how delightful, to smell his cooking after what seems to be an eternity…
She clasped her hands together in delight, before bending forward to place a kiss upon his cheek. Sona knew that would serve as enough of a thank you to forego the written response. She picked up the utensils and set about starting to eat – Slow measured bites. She didn’t need to make herself sick.
A hand motioned for him to sit beside of her, thankful for his company. A thought came to mind, so she brought the board around, scrawling a note.
So, tell me, what events have taken place during my time out?
Her kiss of gratitude brought a smile to jackal’s face. When the offer came for him to sit Nasus happily took up her offer, sitting as close as he could without being a hindrance. When her question was written out there was an obvious shift in the Shruiman’s expression. What was once a joyful face was now one of stress and heartache.
“I’ve taken care of your bills in your absence, caring for them with the diligence you showed when doing them yourself. I made sure to carry the numbers in the same manner as you taught me to in the case of you not being able to do them.” He informed. “Other than that I was getting very irritated with the journalists for many newspapers as they woulc come to the door countless times a day, pulling me away from you. As for your standing among the nobility of Demacia and those of the high counsel in Ionia I’ve managed to keep your place unquestioned and while not as perfectly as you do it unchanged.”
There was more to say. Much more personal matters, but Nasus decided not to put those thoughts out there unless Sona decided to push for the information. For now he’d keep to informing her about the well being of her status and all else.
“We received many letters and gifts from fans. I’ve opened some of the letters, and I apologize for doing so, but they gave me some of the hope I needed to continue on without coming apart at the seams.”
