Health and Hangover Advice
Health and Hangover advice for Vegas⊠We sat down with Dr. Burke CEO of Hangover Heaven to get some health advice for those coming to VegasâŠ.
When traveling to Vegas, you want to get the most out of your time whilst in this amazing city. We took a moment to get some advice from the expert in this field, Dr. Burke who is the CEO of Hangover Heaven based in Las Vegas.
With people coming into Vegas from the UK, they are going to be facing at least 10 hours in a plane if flying direct, and up to 15 hours if connecting, what advice would you give to people in order that they make the most out of their trip?
Start taking a good multivitamin for one week prior to coming to Las Vegaâs. However, keep in mind all multivitamins are not created equal. The bonding agent used can make it difficult for some supplements to dissolve properly. In addition, the quality of the vitamins used in the multivitamin will determine its efficacy. For those reasons I recommend Hangover Heaven supplements. Both the bonding agent and quality of the vitamins used are topnotch. Take the Hangover Heaven supplement a day or two prior to coming to Vegas. Take one pill in the morning and one at night. It will âstock upâ your levels of vitamins and antioxidants. Rest before you leave if you are planning on partying hard whilst here. Do not drink on the plane. Try to get outside and see the sun go down your first few nights in Vegas. This may seem like an odd recommendation, but the body is programmed to respond to sundown. It will help you get over jet lag faster. Consider stopping by Hangover Heaven to get a Myersâ Cocktail and Super B complex shot your first day here so that you have a lot of fluids and nutrients pumping through your system.
Are people susceptible to getting sick when they are on a long haul flight? If so, what preventive measures should they take?
Â
Yes, it is the proximity to other people and the recycled air. Colds and flu are more common in the winter-time not because it is cold, but because people tend to stay inside more with other people. This is a perfect setting for a virus to be spread either via a cough, or virus being left on a door handle or other object. Viruses love rooms or planes full of humans. It is a perfect breeding ground.
To keep this from happening, one can start taking vitamin C and zinc prior to traveling. Make sure you are rested and healthy prior to making the trip. Fatigue and poor diet lead to being more susceptible to illness. You can also bring some Purell and use it frequently during the flight. Many of these viruses are spread via door handles, etc.
When people are going out for the most amazing night of their lives in Vegas, whatâs the best way to avoid a hangover the next day? Eg. Do not mix your drinks?
The best thing to do is to:
1. Get a Myersâ Cocktail and/or Super B complex shot. We have many visitors stop by to get this package as a hangover prevention measure and it works. Since the IV provides you with 10 to 20 times the amount of nutrients you can typically consume orally in a day, the IV is the quickest way to get vitamin, minerals and antioxidants into your system. If you are on a budget, get the Hangover Heaven hangover support supplements. They were created to ward off or significantly reduce the symptoms of a hangover that stem from light to moderate drinking. If you are a very heavy drinker, at the very least, I recommend getting the Super B shot to work in tandem with the supplements.
2. Drink high quality clear alcohol, such as Gin and Vodka. Darker alcohol usually has more contaminants.
3. Limit the energy drinks (Red Bull, etc) to no more than one to two per night.
4. If you really like your whiskey, limit those to two before switching to vodka
5. Use club soda or tonic water as a mixer
6. For every 3 alcoholic beverages you consume, drink 8 oz of water.
7. Eat a good meal before you go out. Snack while you are drinking.
8. Take two pills of the Hangover Heaven prevention supplements before going to bed.
9. If you are really, really drunk, try to stay up and eat something before going to bed. Your metabolism is much higher awake than asleep. You will burn off more alcohol and its metabolites when you are awake. Eggs and bacon are good choices at that point. They have lots of cysteine and B vitamins. Most places like Marquee, Lavo, and XS have good late night menus.
10. Avoid Jaegermeister â It is a hangover in a glass.
For those coming out for a long weekend of pure partying, what is the best advice you would give what treatment would you recommend?
In addition to the list above, please keep in mind the following:
If you are 30 or above, try to schedule some time that does not involve alcohol. There are many great options to have fun here in Vegas that donât involve drinking. You need to give your body 3 or 4 hours to recover.
Take a nap. I find that many people sleep less than 3 hours a day while they are here. Thatâs not good. Your body repairs itself during sleep. Get some rest.
Remember, Hangover Heaven cures hangovers. We are the only medical practice in the world dedicated to the prevention and treatment of hangovers. So, if you find you have a hangover the next morning, come see me for one of our cure packages. As with the Myersâ Cocktail and Super B shot, the cure packages also come with my proprietary blend. We have Redemption, Salvation and Rapture. We will treat you in the bus, our clinic, or in your room.
After a night of drinking what is going on in the body when you have a major hangover? What can Hangover Heaven do to help?
The biggest issue with a hangover is inflammation. Alcohol is broken down by the body into a substance called acetaldehyde (AcA.) It causes inflammation. This is what produces the headache and nausea seen with a hangover. Whiskey and bourbon produce higher levels of AcA than vodka and gin.
Dehydration makes the problem worse, as it results in a higher concentration. Dehydration also causes headache and nausea on its own. The combination of AcA and dehydration can be pretty incapacitating.
People also get the âshakesâ with a hangover. This is due to glutamine rebound and acute alcohol withdrawal. It can really drive people crazy. We have treatments that greatly reduce this without sedating you.
At Hangover Heaven, we can treat all the major symptoms of a hangover. IV fluids are the best way to resolve dehydration. The IV vitamins act as assistants to help your body process the break down products of alcohol out of your system. We will give you IV anti-nausea medicine, as well as IV anti-headache medicine. We even give you my propriety blend intravenously. Many clients are amazed at how fast their condition improves. It is truly a remarkable turn-around.
Is Hangover Heavenâs therapies safe and are there any risks to the procedures?
Â
Yes, Hangover Heavenâs therapies are very safe. We have treated thousands of hangovers and have had no issues.
The most significant risk that could happen during the procedure would be an allergic reaction. This would most commonly occur with the intravenous vitamins. The literature shows the incidence of this to be around 1 in a million. It is rare but we are prepared to treat it.
